Can this topic get shifted to the Culture Box please?

She's more Singer/Songwriter than any other genre imo...

and especially since the camp pop thread has just been posted in pop

Foundations is pretty Poppy...

I love it :D

Yep but she's a singer/songwriter who's done a poppy song. She's much more deserving of a place in Singer/Songwriter when her music is all about lyrics rather than the music behind.

well not only was she on indie label Moshi Moshi Records but doesnt te faact that the Polydor offshoot of Universal has put her on Fiction Records rather than Fascination Records just give you a clue to the sort of people she wants to be marketed to (ie not the Cheesy pop crowd something more upscale)

Fiction Records is a record label that was founded in 1978 by Chris Parry as a home for The Cure. Other notable acts to release on Fiction around this time were the Purple Hearts, Associates and Eat. The label's first #1 record was Wish by The Cure in 1991, going #1 in the United Kingdom. The band left the record label in 2001, signing to Geffen at the end of the year.

After a dormant period of several years, the label was then re-started in 2004 by Joe Munns, Paul Smernicki and Jim Chancellor as a Polydor imprint. The first release on the 'new' Fiction was the Snow Patrol single "Run" (which entered the UK chart at 5) and album Final Straw which has since gone on to sell over 2 million copies around the world. Other notable acts from the current Fiction stable include Ian Brown, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Grates, Stephen Fretwell, The Maccabees, Kate Nash and Delays.

 and  wiki

compare this to Fascination

Fascination Records is a Polydor sub-label that launched in Spring 2006. The record label is managed by former TOTP Magazine editor Peter Loraine.

As part of Polydor Records UK, the label will concentrate on a small number of pop acts and will complement the re-activated Fiction rock imprint.

Main artists

Girls Aloud:

Having become the first all-girl group ever to score 15 consecutive Top 10 hits with their first set of releases (as part of Polydor), Girls Aloud moved to Fascination for the release of their greatest hits album The Sound of Girls Aloud and it's preceding singles "Something Kinda Ooooh" , "I Think We're Alone Now" and "Walk This Way"

Sophie Ellis-Bextor:

Shooting to fame as the singer of Spiller's "Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)", Sophie went on to score a string of Top 10 singles. Her multi-platinum album Read My Lips peaked straightly to the UK Top and was a success throughout many European Countries, Asia and Australia. After the release of her second album, Shoot From The Hip, Sophie took a break in from music to have a baby and to marry Richard Jones from The Feeling. She recently finished her third solo album with the Fascination team, which is due out in Spring 2007. It's entitled Trip the Light Fantastic with the first single from it being "Catch You", released on 19 February 2007, becoming her 7th Top 10 Hit. Also, she released "Me and My Imagination", the second single from her 3rd album, reaching the UK Top 40 again.

Connie Fisher:

The winner of the BBC1 show How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? released her debut album Favourite Things on Fascination on October 9, 2006. Her debut album peaked #14 on the UK Album Charts.

Popjustice:

The Popjustice compilation album, Popjustice: 100% Solid Pop Music, has also been released on this label.

Rumoured artists

Fascination in collaboration with Prestige Management are in the process of auditioning for an all male pop group of a similar ilk to Busted and Mcfly.

PLS SHIFT THIS :(

<33

The song is getting more boring after every listen...

Then why continue to listen?

Then why continue to listen?

It's just that I liked it at first, then I found it OK, and now I'm getting bored of it. So yeah I should stop to listen to it soon, don't worry for me :P

Erm when did you like it?

After few listens I don't find it that good. Nice song, but not much at the moment... Maybe it'll grow on me!

And to those who think she's the new Lily Allen, this single is nowhere as good as 'Smile' was....

No need to keep going on about a song you've never liked/liked minorly :/

OH and d/w I never was worrying for you :D

Oooh I didn't know you are that interested in my playlist :)

I guess I should be honoured

And tou know there're some songs that are GROWERS, that's why I keep listening to songs I'm not that keen on during few days.

Tbf whatever mate, no need to keep dissing a song and pretending to like it when in fact you do not. Your pregorative much but yeah w/e :D
Erm I don't see how comes I have to justify about what I listen or not... it's not your concern, but anyway I'll be as t*** as you are right now, and I'll say everywhere I'm bored of it.

You don't have to justify yourself to anyone haha  And no-one's being a t***.

Just no need for constant hate :D

Well, I was only saying that I got bored of it... That's not what I call "CONSTANT HATE"! And w/e that would balance the "CONSTANT LOVE" that seems to grow around it...
Plenty of artists can sing and still sound British. ;)

Erm.. that's exactly my point

I still like the song/video a fair bit, but it does seem to have been on the video channel's for what feels like a year now, I also think she's another one hit wonder like Sandi Thom.
