Posted May 25, 200718 yr are there any third parts of film triologies that are any good? with reviews of Spidey, Shrek and esp POTC saying they are a bit of a let down can there be a good threequel. or is it not possible (is the threequel the film version of the sophomore slump??? )
May 25, 200718 yr "Infernal Affairs 3" was gobsmacking.... Really complex, intelligent, and a totally satisfying conclusion to the story I felt.... I just loved the way the film came full circle and the end of the third film was actaully the beginning of the first film, fitting in nicely with the whole underlying "bhuddist" ideologies the Trilogy was putting across... "Sympathy For Lady Vengeance" is another spectacular example of a 'third' film... Okay, Park Chan Wook isn't really telling a continuous story with his three film cycle, but the films all have themes in common, so I reckon you could look at "Sympathy For Mr Vengeance", "Oldboy" and "Lady Vengeance" as a very satisfying cinematic whole... The three films do work in their own right, but when you take them all together, then you see the bigger picture... "Ringu 0 - Birthday" (a prequel to Ringu and Ringu 2), was also pretty interesting....
May 26, 200718 yr Does Army of Darkness count? Of course it does.... But, frankly, I thought that sucked..... :P
May 26, 200718 yr Is it better than the first one though? (I still haven't seen 3 yet) It's not bad as third films go, but it doesn't beat the original....

May 26, 200718 yr I think it does. :P Nah, there's too much over-reliance on gore and what I feel is unecessarily explicit violence in the third... The original had a damn good plot, and yes, while it had gory moments, it was more like "Se7en" inasmuch as a lot was left more to the imagination...
May 26, 200718 yr i thought "saw 3" was kinda boring. take away the blood and gore and what are you left with? at least there were some pretty good and interesting storylines in 1 and 2. they just went too OTT with "saw 3".
May 26, 200718 yr I didn't really like Saw 2 that much. I didn't think number 3 would beat the first one, that was just brilliant. I've heard 3 is very gory, and I don't mind a bit of gore but there has to be a good plot aswell.
May 26, 200718 yr Back to the future 3 was preaty good but wasnt as good as the first two movies. Also thought Die Hard 3 was MUCH better than Die Hard 2.
May 27, 200718 yr Does LOTR Return of the King count? Although that wasn't really a triology. That was just a verrrrrry long film split into 3 parts.
May 31, 200718 yr I thought Saw 2 was better than the first one, I can't stand the first..I have yet to see the third.
May 31, 200718 yr Not a trilogy though really, is it...? oh well. just thought i would mention it :)
May 31, 200718 yr I thought Saw 2 was better than the first one, I can't stand the first..I have yet to see the third. Second one is very good, but not as good as the first.. No way... Well, okay, the first does have that annoying bit of over-acting by the Doc... And Danny Glover's kinda seen better days, but apart from that, bloody great film...... The second has several characters who over-act as well, so one cancels out the other really....
