March 17, 200718 yr Oh dear, I so wanted Girls Aloud and Sugababes to get to #1. I hope they don't stop them :( The Proclaimers can have next week
March 17, 200718 yr Oh dear, I so wanted Girls Aloud and Sugababes to get to #1. I hope they don't stop them :( The Proclaimers can have next week  The Proclaimers were on Sky Sports' Soccer AM this morning and presenter Tim Lovejoy said that the single has been downloaded over 20,000 times within it's first 2.5 Hrs after going on sale at 21:30 Hrs last night. So we might actually have a decent #1 this week. By the way Radio 6Music did a poll on their website this week to see which is the worst cover version of all-time between the existing winner Madonna's American Pie (which I vastly prefer to the Don McLean original which sounds like Paul McCartney trying to write Bob Dylan's Like A Rolling Stone gone wrong) and the new massacre of the Aerosmith vs Run DMC classic. GA v Sugababes won with 68.2% of the vote to be officially confirmed as the worst Cover version of all-time (raising over £38,000 for Comic Relief). The single has sold dismally when you consider that the Spice Girls sold 248,000 of Who Do You Think You Are in it's first week and "Amarillo" sold over 250,000 in its first week. That is probably why the new version of I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) has been fast-tracked for release, because the aim of the game is to raise as much money as posible for Comic Relief, not to massage the egos of 8 members of two girl groups who together have come up with by far the worst thing either act has released as a single!

Get in You are right, the aim is not to supply them with a no.1, and would make 2/3 of Girls Aloud's no.1's charity records, so only got to no.1 because of that purpose I don't think it's the worst cover EVER though I think the official one might do 60/70k this week but the Proclaimers should be able to beat that if what you said above is true
March 17, 200718 yr Author To be quite honest this 500 Miles song is one of the worst cover versions I have ever heard. I'd be happy for it to be number 1 next week but not this week. I want Walk This Way to be #1, but I highly doubt it will happen now :(
March 17, 200718 yr I want Walk This Way #01 this week as well. This song will probably be #01 for AAAGES now as well <_<
March 17, 200718 yr To be quite honest this 500 Miles song is one of the worst cover versions I have ever heard. Agreed, it's like someone releasing their karaoke performance. But yes, it's all for charity and will roll in the dough. But doesn't excuse it for being the worst cover :puke: Only a few months ago the MacDonald Bros. were turning our stomachs with this

But doesn't excuse it for being the worst cover :puke: Only a few months ago the MacDonald Bros. were turning our stomachs with this I don't like this one much no, but it's going to attract the average joe British person to buy, alot of the time people who don't normally buy singles because it's comedy Whereas Walk This Way is such an obvious cheese-fest it won't attract any new buyers, just hardcore fans really
March 17, 200718 yr "500 Miles" is MEANT to be a rubbish, pisstake. "Walk This Way" isn't, yet it still is!
March 17, 200718 yr "500 Miles" is MEANT to be a rubbish, pisstake. "Walk This Way" isn't, yet it still is! both songs are not meant to be taken too seriously, both the Babes and GA have said this in interviews, i really dont get why people are slating 'WTW' when there ARE worse charity singles that have been released, who cares about the musical credibility of the singles, as long as comic relief make lots of money, does it really matter!!!! :P :arrr:
March 17, 200718 yr It won't make a lot of money, no matter how much it sells. Because a pathetic 50p goes to charity for every £3.99 cd bought! Diabolical.
March 17, 200718 yr yea i know i was pretty annoyed that 'WTW' was 3 quid and a measly 50p goes to charity 'amarillo' was 4 quid but i think about 1.50 went to CR
