White Stripes head for top?

12 June 2007 - 10:34:59

Detroit’s The White Stripes are currently atop the singles chart with Icky Thump (XL), according to early sales reports, but they face strong competition to maintain pole position on Sunday from Rihanna.

The Rihanna featuring Jay-Z single Umbrella (Def Jam) has shifted only a thousand less units than The White Stripes, and has been at number one since its entry into the charts four weeks ago.

Marillion’s Thankyou Whoever You Are (Intact) looks set to become the week’s highest new entry, with Koopa (Juxtaposition), Erasure (Mute) and Kelly Clarkson (RCA) all likely to hit the Top 20.

So far the highest climber looks likely to be Maximo Park’s Books From Boxes (Warp), climbing from 116 to number eight.

There’s more movement on the album charts again this week. Four new entries are set for the Top Five, which, come Sunday, is likely to be populated by an army of ageing rockers.

The Travelling Wilburys Collection (Rhino) is sitting on number one, closely followed by Bon Jovi’s Lost Highway (Mercury).

Both releases have sold 10,000-plus more copies than third place Queens Of The Stone Age’s Era Vulgaris (Interscope).

Biffy Clyro’s Puzzle (14th Floor) could slip out of the Top 10 this week from its number two position.

Looks like Kelly C is at 11/12...looking less likely to steal a Top 5 place from Kelly R now ^_^
how can Kelly C STILL be in the top 15 ?!

Because she's still not top 10 ;)

I really wish this thread could be kept closed for longer each week because I am sick and tired of the amount of slagging off and music bashing in the main daily update thread so I can get the chart updates without wading through pages of tripe. I happen to be an indie fan and the current slagging off of The White Stripes single is really p***ing me off. But then the amount of slagging that other genres/ songs get is really tiresome as well. Cut the slagging off everybody!

Everyones gonna have their own opinions though and they're bound to express them! :P

But I agree, after a while it does get tiresome

Frickin Marillion. Hope it goes 7-32 or something ridiculous like their song in 2004 did. :smoke:

Opinions are fine but the way things get said at the moment is really annoying and sometimes offensive. Then these members wonder why they get slagged off themselves.
