There is a place for everything but it comes in cycles. 98-01 was big for pop and dance, 02-04/5 Rnb, and then indie rock became bigger in 2005 with the likes of Franz Ferdinand and The Killers. I'm sure soon it'll turn again..

I think its fair to some it up by saying certain acts (such as the holloways, or at least their song Generator) are considered Indie when in fact they are pop - people just tend to say 'they playlist too much indie' when we actually mean too much of their playlist is male singers, not females.
Bob Sinclair? Dizzee Rascal?

But that's what "Indie" is. It's stuff on an independant label, NOT a style of music! Or what it originally meant atleast. -_-

There's plenty of proper indie sung by brilliant female singers. The likes of Rilo Kiley, Howling Bells, Shortwave Set, The Sounds, The Long Blondes, The Knife, Bat For Lashes, Camera Obscura, Husky Rescue. All embracing different styles and all just as good, if not better then most of the tripe that radio 1 playlist. But because they ARE different and not completely generic they won't get R1 support.

Arctic Monkeys A-list now!

Enrique should be on the A-List instead of this trash

Fair enough they play alot of Indie music cause its popular or whatever. But how can we expect pop/dance ore RnB to make a bigger impact when one of the most listened to radio stations, Radio 1 only plays a select few of RnB/Pop & dance in their playlist??

Daytime Radio1 just tends to play whatever's popular at the moment, which at the moment is all Razorlight, The Killers etc etc. Radio1's main target audience is Uni students and all the research and stuff proves that the majority of Uni students like indie and stuff, so to keep Radio1's listening figures up they'll playlist a lot of indie, and I don't think that'll change for a while yet.
