But someone in the Beale family is gonna be shot as the storyline reaches a climax, i think is EE at its best.

Has it not already been confirmed that it's Jane who gets shot? I swear I read that somewhere.

Well I hope Jane isn't leaving! She's a damn good character! And besides, wheres the justice? Ian deserves to be shot.

Oh I agree. I like the way she's gradually changed from being one of the also-ran background characters no-one cared about to being one of EE's frontline acts, and without the writers having to resort to any dramatic personality overhauls like with Sonia, Pauline and Joe in the past year or so.

The only thing I will say is it would be great to have her do more comedy plots, she proved she's got it with the crashing-the-party-in-a-golf-cart episode from last year. More of that please!

Oh, I didn't like that episode  She went OTT, or rather the writers did. She IS great at the more subtle comedy though. ^_^
apparantly this storyline is gona have a brilliant climax all the press are even saying its going tio be great and the press never praise eastenders
Yep, this week looks like it's going to be brilliant. I was just reading about it in the Sun's TV Mag, the Cindy story sounds excellent, and I can't wait for Sean to come out of jail and start to get revenge. Just looking at the stories for Corrie and Emmerdale it really does show and is so obvious how EE is just on another level to them both atm, and anyone who denies that clearly hasn't been watching EE lately and still thinks it's the depressing show it was a few years back. It is so clearly the best and has been all summer, with excellent storyline after another, and the comedy has also been very good (and certainly not over-doing things like other soaps), I loved Dot trying to work the computer last week, and the web cam

I disagree - I think Eastenders is just dreadful at the moment. Its pathetic attempts at comedy come off just plain embarrassing and the 'serious' storylines it has are not interesting at all. It has had some brilliant moments in the past but it has far gone past its sell-by date now. It introduces characters hurredly (characters that you have no desire at all to get to know).

No - forget Corrie and Emmerdale being better than Eastenders - at this moment in time - even Hollyoaks leaves Walford standing.

Sorry...but I've seen a picture of Chelsea and Deano out of jail for next week

Is it a thing in EastEnders to put people in jail for the weekend then free them?

Saying that, I hope Chelsea is freed! =)

I reckon Abi&Dot Branning are sending the emails to Lucy

Chelsea is turning into a right b*tch.........I like it. ^_^

You must be the only person that has actually been watching over the past few months, I've ever heard say EE is bad atm.:o On sites such as Digitalspy, everyone has been praising it non-stop all summer, and even people who usually hate it have admitted how brilliant it is again, and rightfully so. Storyline after storyline has been just excellent for months now, never a dull moment, and even in the week away in Brighton, was very good, and very funny. For the first time in years I have actually been looking forward to watching each episode of it, whilst before, it was only occasionally great. They have forgot about trying impress the idiotic critics with unrealism and sensationalism. In the past two or three years, EE has been up and down in terms of quality, the ratings, and constatly getting slagged off by the press. Now it has been, for the first time in ages, consistantly great for ages, consistantly getting top ratings that have been very close to Corrie, even overtaking it a few times. The new charachters have been great, especially the Mitchell sisters, who despite not having any big storylines yet, have been very impressive. And if the comedy is emabressing, then what would that makes Corrie's attempt at comedy? Their slapstick comedy is just cringworthy to say the least, in no way amusing or even witty and completelly OTT.

IMO, Corrie is the worst it's been in a LONG time, it is worse than EE was back in 2004, the plots have been very weak for months now, and it's only a matter of time before ratings start to fall. Actually, it only got 6.4m viewers last night, whilst EE got nearly a million more. It;s about time the public got fed up and did'nt tune in just like with EE's lows over the past few years. And Emmerdale, well is just always awful lets face it. As for Hollyoaks, I would'nt watch it if you paid me and never will, so would'nt know if it was any good  Nope, i'm with the majority in saying EE is clearly head and shoulders above all other soaps atm, and will hopefully continue to be for the rest of the year, and obviously on Xmas when it is always the top soap. Looking forward to seeing what they have lined up. :D

This would have been true last year, but I think EE has made a considerable effort to develop all of the new characters we've had in the past couple of years, something they failed to do at the time and was perhaps their biggest weakness.

This time last year, they were happy to introduce the likes of Joe, Bert, Oliver, Naomi and Li; fine characters except no-one gave a stuff. But now, those bland characters that were introduced during this time have now been developed (few people cared about the likes of Jane, Dawn and the Wicks/Fox clan, but now they're all forefront characters). And when they do make new additions, they actually take the time and effort to integrate them properly and make them appealing to the audience (Shirley, Heather and the Mitchell sisters are good examples of this recently, and May was also compulsive viewing during her time).

I agree with your post Shoat.

I couldn't stand Dawn before, but since the Rob/Dawn/May storyline I think she is great, maybe not a superb actress, but the character of Dawn is good.

Where'as characters like Shirley, Heather & The Mitchell Sisters are just fabulous.

I'm also loving the fact that EE are making 'Enders have some comedy aswell as Drama. Dot Branning is a comedy genius!

yes i agree about dawn i didnt think much of her at all until her baby storyline which i loved, the show is really back on it sfeet again, the new charactors are great like shirley and the mitchells and im really enjoying the upcoming ian beale storyline,

Not sure if anyone has noticed, Jim Branning is out of EE for 6 months, due to bad health, he will be returning towards the end of the year.

I think EE has got some cracking storylines at the moment, this week should be quite good.

On reflection - you are right in that it has improved over the last year but it is still far from being the best soap on the box at the moment. I don't think any of them are at their best right now but Coronation Street is still a lot better than all else. Granted - they Hayley storyline is a bit pants - just too unbelievable - having said that - the storyline is serving to push the Becky character forward a bit and I think she's terrific (the actress was good in that episode of Life on Mars too). The Violet / Sean thing is just plain knickers! Don't like either character. The Mortons are just dreadful. On its plus side - it has many. The David storyline is just great (Eastenders is copying again .... the child with deep rooted hatred for the parent). Jack P Shepherd the guy who plays him is doing a fabulous job - absolutely everybody hates that character. Dev's Daughter Amber is so funny ... her and Norris when they get together make a really entertaining funny act.

I suppose it is down to opinion but I really do think that (despite its recent improvements) Eastenders still sucks big time. For me a long-running soap just has to have a strong element of humour running alongside the pathos and the humour in Eastenders is just too heavy-handed and downright unfunny.

It seems the media are finally turning against Corrie. Those 'in the know' think EE is one its' way back up and Corrie down, so I guess we'll see.

Anyhow, only an average episode tonight. LOVING Denise, but the Phil/Peggy/Drunk saga is quite the borefest.

I must admit I'll be watching it tomorrow night (I think Sean lops half of Chelsey's hair off while she sleeps) or have I missed it? Did that happen tonight? Its still pants though. Corrie is classier, funnier and on the whole better. I'm even getting into Emmerdale lately. I just find Eastenders so slow. Please, please - writers - write Dot out. Just 'cos she's old doesn't mean she's any good!

Kath

The very thought of Corrie being classy makes me cackle.

And no, the hair incident has not happened yet. ^_^
