I ain't gonna buy DVD's or stay up til 3am on UK Gold just because they don't explain stuff! I just wanna watch a show, not do research to do it, haha!

You could just look on wikipedia at least then.

Wikipedia would be research, no? :P

It'd probably say he was the doctors brother, the reliability of that

Well, fans have probably wrote it so I'd say most of it is true. You'd get the jist of who he was anyway.

100% of wikipedias info on the pre 2005 doctor who is correct, i should know. i wrote alot of it myself

Yar, I gots it.

Now that's sorted, looking forward to next week!

Was glad Capt. Jack wasn't too over-powering in this episode aswell.

Was I the only one who was disappointed when Sir Derek Jacobi's Professor regenerated into John Simms' The Master (= Mr Saxon = The President of Great Britain). Especially as in that minutes worth of manic OTT acting he reminded me more as Batman's Jim Carrey's The Joker meets John Leslie via that internet video rather than the original two Masters played with a suave, charming and somewhat sociopathic evil dark menace by the late Roger Delgado & Anthony Ainley (EDITED).

Derek "I Claudius/Cadfael" Jakobi acted absolutely everyone off the screen with another tour-de-force performance.

A great episode but there have been better. John Barrowman was good but I have difficulty with him after persuading the Great British public to vote for Scooch ahead of Cyndi to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest.

What are the bets that the Doctor uses Jack's "Space Hopper" Watch to get back to the 21st Century & that next Saturday's episode will be a Doctor-lite episode while we see what Mr Saxon = The Master has got up to.....

8.5/10

thisispop: Who is Peter Pratt? Is he the one in the film?

You didn't mention Anthony Ainley (sp?).

Damn I got the wrong one - yes I meant Anthony Ainsley (the third one in this picture).

I wish Derek Jacobi carried on the role of The Master, but apparently he was too ill to carry on with the role, most of the time while filming that episode he was stuck in a wheelchair, behind the scenes

The Master was also played in five episodes by Geoffrey Beevers (source: imdb.com)

I was surprised there was no real mention of who The Master was but maybe there'll be something in next week's episode.

Yes I meant Jim Carrey's The Riddler :P (I've never liked anything Jim Carrey has done with the exception of the brilliant "The Truman Show" & "Man In The Moon")

- the point i was making was that it was a bit OTT Panto acting compared to Derek Jacobi.

Surely Derek's The Master uttering the line "I am the Master" was the best piece of acting of the entire series.

Really :o

I thought he was AMAZING the rest of the episode, but I thought that part was SLIGHTLY panto

*ducks*

Wrong.

He played Private Johnson in The Ambassadors Of Death in 1970 (1 part), than The Master for the 4 parts of Keeper Of Traken

So imdb.com is wrong? That doesn't happen very often. Perhaps you should submit a correction.

It's true. We've seen both episodes.

I'm sure you're right. So why not send in a correction? I'm sure they'll be happy to accept that they can sometimes get it wrong. If you've got evidence (e.g. a cast list from a video / DVD), that would be even better.

I can't be bothered really. I'm not a member.

You should know it's right, haven't you seen it??

Well this is the first episode i've watched of Dr. Who in 3 weeks after I grew tired of it because of how tiresome it had come tbh, but I watched today's ep to see Captain Jack.

I thought it was brilliant, best episode i've seen this series easily, was all very well thought out and the Captain Jack stuff was explained well I thought, but I thought the transformation of the master was a bit wierd, I knew it was coming, but it just looked wrong and out of character.
