June 16, 200718 yr Well the most famous one was the battle of the dance tunes in 2000 Spiller vs Truesteppers. Both with massive sales, 200k vs 180k. 2001 had Kylie vs Posh, with Kylie easily beating her. Victoria limped in at #6 with 35k sold while Kylie sold over 300k
June 16, 200718 yr I remember Shane Richie and Will Young in 2003. Didn't it look like Shane would be #1 in the mids due to stocking problems for Will?
June 16, 200718 yr There's been a few good album battles too. Spice Girls vs. Westlife U2 vs. The Beatles vs. Il Divo vs. Take That Robbie Williams vs. Dido Will Young vs. Madonna McFly vs. Kanye West Edited June 16, 200718 yr by spiker
June 16, 200718 yr Oh and some more 2000 Eminem vs Samantha Muma Mumba was #1 in the midweeks with Gotta Tell You but had to settle for #2 2000 Westlife and Mariah vs Zombie Nation everyone was cheering for the trance tune, but in the end blandness won 2000 Five vs Louise vs Ronan Keating Ronan had about 120k of his sales disqualified, making way for Louise to be midweek #1 with 2 Faced. In the end, it was Ronan who still managed to be #1 with Five #2 and Louise down at #3.
June 16, 200718 yr Will Young's You & I was pipped to the post wasn't it by Dirrty. I'm sure Will was ahead in the midweeks in 2002 Westlife with Diana Ross were ahead in the mids but were beaten by Nizlopi on Sunday in 2005 Christina narrowly missed out on #1 to Shakira last year Eric Prydz was #2 in the midweeks, being beaten by Manics and Duncan James but was ahead by Sunday Edited June 16, 200718 yr by spiker
June 16, 200718 yr That would have been R.Kelly <_< Oh yes, that song beat so many good songs to number 1 - Girls Aloud, Justin, Big Brovaz and S Club 7 Edited June 16, 200718 yr by spiker
June 16, 200718 yr Can't believe nobody's mentioned Nelly Furtado vs Sandi Thom from this time last year (as mentioned by me in another thread). Another good battle: Eminem vs Elvis Presley vs Brian McFadden in 2005. 2000 Five vs Louise vs Ronan Keating Ronan had about 120k of his sales disqualified, making way for Louise to be midweek #1 with 2 Faced. In the end, it was Ronan who still managed to be #1 with Five #2 and Louise down at #3.It was Five who reached #1 that week - but Ronan would have stayed at #1 had all his sales counted. Westlife with Diana Ross were ahead in the mids but were beaten by Nizlopi on Sunday in 2005 I think Nizlopi were ahead all week - only narrowly at first, but they pulled further ahead as the week progressed. June 16, 200718 yr I've just thought of another. Destiny's Child vs. Atomic Kitten in 2001 Also U2 Vs Atomic Kitten
June 16, 200718 yr There's the Elvis ones too. I remember Ciara going 4-1 from midweeks to final position. Eminem, U2 and Tony Christie also overtook Elvis in different weeks Edited June 17, 200718 yr by spiker
June 16, 200718 yr There's the Elvis ones too. I remember Ciara going 6-1 from midweeks to final position. She started off at #4 from what I remember, although sales were incredibly tight that week and she barely scraped the #1.
June 16, 200718 yr The "Stop The Cocks" campaign by The Sun for the album chart last year was pretty memorable. Westlife beating Beatles, U2 and Oasis haha.
June 17, 200718 yr Oh yes, that song beat so many good songs to number 1 - Girls Aloud, Justin, Big Brovaz and S Club 7 Ignition was 1000 times better than anything Girls Aloud could attempt
