You do talk rubbish. char1sma. The single is at #12 the same as it was on the first day of release. Mind you the album has climbed another place & looks like hitting the top 10 by Sunday. :cheer: Keep On is having a run in the charts like most credible artists rising with each single release. Will doesn't need to have all his sales in the Xmas market then watch the album disappear into obscurity.

I could be wrong, but it seems to me there has been a conscious effort on the part of Will and his people to encourage people not to buy this single and buy the album instead.

There are no B-sides and apparently it has been difficult to find copies in the shops. On top of that although Will's fans like the video I'm sure it will have put quite a few people off.

I'm sure this is exactly what they wanted.

Think you could be right Val :) though I disagree about the video. You obviously haven't seen all the postive feedback it's had in the media.

Anyway I'm off back to the Will forum. Don't want to hog this thread. :P

I think you're right Val, but it's sound business sense. The purpose of every single is to promote an album.

The artist & the label make peanuts from single sales anyway. Who Am I has been available for download for 5 months and as Keep On was Sony/BMGs biggest selling album download of 2005, there's a limit anyway, I would think to how many they estimate the single to sell this week. It's high on the airplay & Tv play charts, the video got plenty of publicity and the album's still selling well after 5 months. I would think all concerned are very happy (except perhaps, those who cant find a copy of Who Am I anywhere ;) )

Yes I have. But I think there are still a lot of people (many who have said as much to me) who will be turned off by it.

Its not the video itself, because it is very funny, but because it doesn't seem to go with the song. With a different song, it would be hilarious, but its somewhat spoilt the enjoyment of listening to WAI for me. The trouble is I'm a bit of a hopeless romantic deep down and that's the way I would have liked to see WAI portrayed. I'm sure there are a lot of others who think the same.

I absolutely agree with you Marguerite, which is the point I was trying to make. I think they have done exactly the right thing with this single as far as the album is concerned.

No matter how you look at it, the record companies have a considerable amount of control over us mere punters, whether we admit it or not.

To be fair though, it's only a couple of chart shows and us internet types that lurk on sites like this, that think single sales have any importance at all.

All my family buy music, my son probably buys 3or 4 c.ds every week, his collection is so big, he has a music room at his house where the things are stored. I bet he hasn't got 1 single amongst them. The only ones I've bought in years are Wills (for Bsides) and a couple of novelty ones, like Amirillo, for my 4 year old. :D

Yes, I remember Dido´s last to singles just scrapped in the Top 30 and nobody was mourning because of that, since the album itself is one of the biggest sellers of the decade.

Sorry it seems no more updates this week, nothing in my inbox, rather thin on the ground, unless someone else can shed more light on the subject. :(
