Early reports indicate that it's pretty dire compared to the first two.....

The further they go the worse it gets, I'd say :( I loved the first Shrek movie, the second was ok and fun but no where near as good as the first one.

I hate Shrek full stop.

This one has its moments - the evil trees are excellent, but not enough laughs and a pretty poor plot all round. There's not really enough in the way of jokes for the adults to snigger at, but still plenty of slapstick and fart jokes for those younger / of a more puerile persuasion. Also, they could have done with more popular culture and retro references.

My bro went and he said the animation was excellent but the story was a bit of a let down

Most usually yes. The best threequel so far thsi year has been Pirates.

 

There have been some good threequels (Return of the Jedi, Godfather Part III, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), but in general, the third part is pants!

The 1st and 2nd are AMAZING, havnt seen the 3rd yet.
