Hopefully when Call My Name charts, it could generate some interest in Fight For This Love to take it over the million mark

Total sales for Cheryl's past lead singles were given by MW:

"Fight for This Love" 988,739 - 10,000 lower than the last estimate given :o

"Promise This" 427,262

I'd expect that we'll get album sales next week, too!

Definitely keeping my fingers crossed for both 3W & MLR album sales, next week! *Will kill if they just give first week figures* :P

Shame about FFTL being somewhat less than what had been predicted. So close but feels so far!

"Screw You" enters the top 100 at exactly #100 this week :D It'll definitely be the third single, if there is one released.

OCC revealed that Biology has sold 165,000 to-date today:

We like a good pop tune here at Official Charts HQ. We like them a lot, and throughout 2012 the Official Charts Company are celebrating 60 years of the Official Singles Chart – the home of said pop tunes.

With a little help from you guys, every Friday OfficialCharts.com will be unearthing some of these glorious musical nuggets from days gone by with Official Chart Pop Gem!

Girls Aloud – Biology

2012 is not only the 60th anniversary of the Official Singles Chart, it’s also the 10th anniversary of Girls Aloud getting together.

Earlier this week (October 9), a cryptic ten day countdown appeared on the girls official website, www.girlsaloud.com. The Twittersphere erupted with wild speculation as to what they could possibly be announcing on October 19? A new single? A new album? A tour? Who’s to know, but we’re excited about whatever it is!

To whet your appetites, we’ve decided to make Girls Aloud’s tenth Official Singles Chart Top 40 hit, Biology, this week’s Official Chart Pop Gem.

Released seven years ago this very week, Biology hit Number 4 on the Official Singles Chart, it has since sold nearly 165,000 copies to date. Written by the Xenomania production team Brian Higgins and Miranda Cooper, the reason we love this tune is because it represents sheer value for money. Allow us to explain...

Pop value for money. We're talking three or four tunes for the price of one here.

Whether it's Nadine's jingling "Why don't you fool me, feed me, say you need me" intro, or the next rather pleasant "one Alabama return" bit, before racing into Chezza's oh-so-exciting bridge "Closer, your minds firing blind, with your head, in your face getting red, in your heart beats, closer". Climaxing eventually to the ACTUAL chorus, yes, we're not even at the chorus yet and we've already exploded with pop joy. Altogether now..."We give it up and then they take it away, a girl’s got to zip it up, and get her head in the shade"

TUUUUUNNNNE!

We're all for throwing out the standard verse/chorus/verse/chorus every once in a while, that's why we give a firm Official Charts salute to the beautifully odd yet wonderfully rewarding structure of this Girls Aloud banger. Four tunes in one, remember. That's value.

So, sit back, crank up your PC’s speakers, and enjoy this poptastic moment from Cheryl, Nadine, Sarah, Nicola and Kimberley!

Ooh, thanks! I really hope the OCC reveals a lot of GA data during their comeback.

The last 'Biology' figure I had was 155,000 in April 2010. ^_^ 10k growth. Probably not crazy to assume most of their other Top 10 hits have grown by around this much as well. I guess the likes of 'The Promise' will have sold more though.

It seems certain they will reveal some sort of list for their 10th anniversary, whether they'll reveal sales for all songs or not is another thing. They would probably just give sales for The Promise and Sound of the Underground. But we can keep our fingers crossed! :D

I'd like to see some sales data for their albums, as I'm sure they will have increased in sales more than the singles.

Today on polish site I read that Fight For This Love passed 1 mln copies :cheer:

On 18th Oct, officialcharts tweeted:

"To date @girlsaloud have sold over 4.3 million singles in the UK, & have scored 20 Top 10 hits (including 4 Number 1s) http://t.co/lhECAZ5A"

Does anyone think this includes album tracks that were downloaded? Totaling up their previously known figures for their first 21 singles, it only just comes up to 4.0 million. 300,000 unaccounted for.

I really wish they'd given some new figures when they posted this tbh: http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/g...t-century-1652/ :(

There's a big 40-place-drop for "Something New" this week, at its lowest position to-date of #89.

"Fight for This Love" has had its sales updated by Music Week though, and it's now sold 1,002,260 :D

"Sound of the Underground" is on 660,000 and "The Promise" is on 530,000 as of 9/2/13 :)

May interest some to know that One True Voice's 'Sacred Trust' (the runners up to Girls Aloud for Christmas Number One in 2002) has sold 260k as of July 2013 (thanks to Top 50 Boyband Best Sellers of the 21st Century on Magic). Therefore 'Sound of the Underground' has outsold it by 400k!

'Can't Speak French' has been given a Silver certification by the BPI, so it must have sold over 200k since you don't ship downloads.

'Promise This' is now Gold too.

'Love Machine' also confirmed to be Silver! Glad they have a few single certifications to their name now.

Platinum - Sound Of The Underground

Silver - Jump

Silver - I'll Stand By You

Silver - Love Machine

Silver - Something Kinda Ooooh

Silver - Call The Shots

Silver - Can't Speak French

Gold - The Promise

I really hope a "Top 50 Girl Group Best Sellers of the 21st Century" list will be counted down on a music TV channel at some point! I assume at least the above 8 singles would feature in such a list, and it'd be great to have some updated figures.

It's been a year since we had a proper sales update. Would be nice to see where everything is after the reunion/tour etc.
