Buena unhappy over Sugababes song

Mutya Buena reacted in fury when she learned that a song on her new album was written by Sugababes star Amelle Berrabah.

The singer, who left the group in 2005 and was replaced by Berrabah, told her record company that she wanted to ditch the track after she was told who had penned it - but bosses refused to budge on the matter.

An insider told Closer magazine: "Mutya went mad. The track was offered to the Sugababes first, but they turned it down so it got passed on to Mut. She put the song on the album, then the record company had to break the bad news to her.

"Mutya was fuming and wanted the track taken off. They wouldn't ditch the song so they compromised by changing Amelle's name to a made-up one in the credits."

Strung Out writing credits: Peter Kirtley, Tim Hawes, Obi Mhondera, Mutya Buena.

Peter (or Pete) Kirtley – started musical career at 18 with the Alan Price Set; has written and recorded with the likes of Champion Jack Dupree, Bert Jansch, Liane Carroll and Sir Paul McCartney.

Tim Hawes – Ivor-Novello winning songwriter and producer who co-wrote and co-produced with Peter Kirtley Hear’Say’s 2001 #1 hit, “Pure and Simple.”

Obi (Simbarashe) Mhondera – ace remixer from 33Hertz who has remixed tracks for Christina Aguilera, Natasha Bedingfield and Blue.

To insinuate that the song's writing credits include a made-up songwriter is to say the least, unfair to the legitimate songwriters of Strung Out. Get the facts straight and help safeguard and protect Intellectual Property Rights.

 well theres the proof then :D must have been made up about her bein unhappy
... unless, of course, if Mutya Buena is the made up name for Amelle Berrabah. I swear, that will be top fodder for gossip columns.

 yeh

Good to see you back in the Sugababes forum btw :funky: we could do with more posters :kink: hint hint  oj :P

Im sure changing someones name in the credits would be illegal.
It could just be Mutyas anyway  guess we'll never know so confusin

Well someone is obv $h!tstirring then because I do remember reading a 'supposed' quote from Amelle saying something along the lines of 'I don't know why she;s behaving in such a way towards me when she chose to leave the band - I wonder if she knows I cowrote one of the songs on her new album'.
The press have been saying for months that Strung Out was written by Amelle ! Its not. ^_^
