Posted July 16, 200718 yr The Good The Bad And The Queen Ashton Court Gig Cancelled The Good, The Bad and The Queen were due to headline the Ashton Court Festival in Bristol on Sunday 15th July, but fans were left disappointed after the event was cancelled due to bad weather. The band, fronted by Damon Albarn (Blur and Gorillaz), Paul Simonon (The Clash), Simon Tong (The Verve) and Tony Allen (Fela Kuti), were due to be the headlining act at the festival playing with over 80 acts on its second day, following the triumphant performance by The Fall on Saturday evening. The second day of the festival was cancelled on health and safety grounds related to the apalling weather. Thousands of revellers were expected to travel to the event, but were turned away at the last minute by officials. Said festival organiser Steve Hunt: "Although this will be a huge disappointment to the many people who have worked hard to make this festival happen, I am sure we have their support in ensuring the festival is safe for the public" The cancellation comes amist concerns that the festival may not continue in the future and puts doubts on the viability of holding the two day annual event in the grounds of Bristol's Ashton Court Estate. The three day annual hot air balloon fiesta is expected to take place at Ashton Court as usual in early August. The Good The Bad And The Queen Bio: The Good, the Bad and the Queen is the debut album by an unnamed alternative rock band released in January 2007. The album debuted at #2 in the UK Albums Chart and was certified gold in the United Kingdom within days of its release despite a small degree of media recognition and airplay.
