Nash set to end Rihanna's singles domination

Rihanna’s record-breaking singles chart run looks set to come to an end this Sunday, with Kate Nash and Timbaland challenging for the number one slot.

Early retail reports suggest that Kate Nash’s Foundations (Fiction) will shade the number one slot, jumping 2-1, just ahead of Timbaland’s The Way I Are (Polydor).

Rihanna’s Umbrella (Def Jam), having spent 10 weeks at number one - the longest period of any single this century - looks likely to fall to three, ahead of a new entry from the Manic Street Preachers with Autumnsong (Columbia).

Outside of the top five, the chart is likely to remain rather static, although both Newton Faulkner and Nine Black Alps look set for top 20 placings, for Dream Catch Me (RCA) and Burn Faster (Island) respectively.

It is a similar story of inactivity on the albums chart: Paul Potts looks set to retain the number one slot with One Chance (Syco), although Timbaland’s Shock Value (Intercsope) is likely to climb to the number two slot, on the back of the artist’s singles success.

In addition, Garbage’s best of set, Absolute Garbage (Warner), looks set to claim a top five placing.

Open for discussion

As from next week, the pinned thread will no longer exist, the main thread topic will look different, if it does not go to plan, I revert back the following week. It's just for a trial period.

Timbaland is taking the lead, it's sad for Kate :(

Surprised by 'Shut up & drive' already top20 coz it's only #20 on Itunes... Amerie is only top40 while she's #19 on I-tunes!

Great for Mark Ronson album!

Ahh Rihanna is doing right well with Shut up and Drive :D:D

maybe another number 1?

Her album is top 10 again hehehe :)

Glad Timbaland is in front of Kate Nash

And Ive just realised. Fergie will have a new peak in the albums :D

Green Day - Simpsons

Its the theme music

The Simpson's track is also Instrumental :/

Some people still seem to forget that there are more download services available other than iTunes, iTunes holds about a 50% stake in the download market, 50% made up of Tesco, HMV, Napster etc. So whilst one song may be doing well on iTunes, say "Gotta Work" elsewhere download sales may not be as strong. The vice-versa of this would seem to be true with "Shut up and Drive"

Green Day? That's not the band then?

I don't forget about that, but generally I-tunes is a great indication of how well a song is doing overall, and more indicative than the other download services (I remember of Spice Girls top3 on most download services and only top100 with 'Stop' on i-tunes few weeks ago...). :)

That's why I was surprised at Rihanna and Amerie positions, that's all ;)
