...did anyone catch this Channel 4 drama at the weekend?

It's been slated to high heaven for portraying a side of gay life most would rather keep hidden - but I thought it dealt with a few issues very well.

Paul Nicholls was excellent as the gay guy who himself went 'queerbashing'.

The violence, like the sex, was full-on and brutal. In fact, it was quite possibly Channel 4's most shocking drama, I think.

I saw some of it... didn't think much to it tbh. I preferred A Very British Sex Scandal that was shown on C4 on Saturday.
i was talking about it in the chatroom with people while it was on, i kept stoping paying attention to it though.

The sex scene with the 14 year old and the 30 year old man was very full on.

I thought it was a fantastic drama.

Paul Nichollas was fantastic.

I thought it was hideous and channel 4 should be ashamed of themselves for commissioning a programme which I felt justified homophobia.

How did it justify homophobia?

It was just being gay, in Clapham.

I watched this, and I have to say it was brutal, but excellent. Made me a bit more wary for sure...
I saw this, not being gay myself, I found it interesting how some people portrayed gays. I liked the way the drama linked different peoples lives together, when the out gay met the closet gay in the toilet, and then met at a party later, and a copule at the party had a 14yr old son, who was across the street having sex with a 30yr old man, I found the gay-hater realy sick, chicking fags in his mouth, p***ing on him etc: It was sick, It reminded me a bit of the film "Crash" The way their lives all ended up linked together. Overall, I found it an enjoyable and intense film, quite good.

I think the twist with the gay basher, was that, a gayer aswell?

Not too sure though.

apparently, they wanted to dramatise 'internalised homophobia' with the gaybasher thing - in everyday language - how some gay men are homophobic themselves, and hate being gay so much they take their frustration and anger out on others like them.

In fact, there's been studies that reveal a large percentage of gaybashers and extreme gay-haters are, in fact, at least bisexual themselves, hence their hatred toward gays and why gays bother them so much.

Anyway, the best bit was Paul Nicholls getting ready to go cooing and shoeing.... great scene that :naughty:

Yeah that was a great scene.

I thought it was a great drama, But I did feel that they ended it too soon and there were a lot of unanswered questions.

In the chat room someone asked has he got his "love stick out" i don't rember who it was anymore

I wanted to see this but I completely forgot about it  Ah well :(
I have it on Sky+, aswell as British Sex Scandal ... I will get round to watching them soon!

I think it may be repeated on More 4 tonight.

I finally got round to this ... whilst I liked it, and thought it was well scripted and brilliantly delivered ... sometimes I found it difficult to sit through without losing my patience. Some scenes there was far too much small talk and so many longing looks that I just got bored of waiting for some actual plot advancement ... one small scene I Sky+'d straight through because I got so bored of them essentially just staring at each other without speaking!

Also, it was a shame that none of the couples actually ended up together? Presumably, statistically gay couples ARE happy and involved in great relationships, but none of those featured in the programme were by the end - presuming of course, that the married couple split up becuase he lied about the ring?
