I know this is totally OT but whilst bored stiff at work

I checked out some stuff on he OCC website. :o

I found the top 5 most downloaded tracks of 2006.

01. Gnarls Barkley - Crazy 400634

02. Scissor Sisters - Dancin 239276

03. Shakira - Hips 230339

04. Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars 200226

05. Nelly Furtado - Maneater 188303

It was the Snow Patrol one I found interesting as the single only sold about 20k more at the year end chart so quite astonishing at how huge its download total was and what a flop the single would'v been without them. :o

Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars was deleted (around end of October 2006) which meant it wasn't available for physical re-order to shops, so it wasn't in retail shops to buy.

It's highest position was #6, it stayed around for ages, entirely on downloads in 2007.

snow patrol debuted at number 15 on physical and continue climbing i was shocked at how low they were then but i was pleased they made outside top 5 pleased for snow patrol.

Chasing Cars got boring quickly. Why people are STILL downloading it is completely beyond me.

Ditto.

Because they haven't heard it much. Especially people with jobs, who are perhaps the market that are/where downloading it way after it's released.

Indeed!

Cuz Crazy is a brilliant song. :P

Chasing Cars on the other hand...

Well, I just think it pales compared to anything on Songs for Polarbears. I never got what was so appealing about it.

Yes I do know that dear.

But that total is for downloads in 2006 before it was physically deleted so it's still pretty impressive.

And it's still around the charts 47 weeks later. Will it make the magical 52 weeks (1 year).

Thanks for that translation!
