01 (03) Shakira feat. Wyclef Jean – Hips Don’t Lie

02 (18) Christina Aguilera – Ain’t No Other Man

03 (02) Rihanna – Unfaithful

04 (04) Lily Allen – Smile

07 (45) Madonna – Get Together

08 (06) Rogue Traders – Voodoo Child

09 (**) Kasabian – Empire

10 (07) Nelly Furtado – Maneater

A year ago, Shakira was about to reclaim the top spot for 3 more weeks, making a run of 5 weeks in total. Hips would go on to be one of the biggest songs of the year, only bettered by Gnarls Barkley. Christina Aguilera's big comeback was kept off the top in a shock move, and Rihanna was the bridesmaid yet again with Unfaithful, not knowing that her big day was less than a year away! Lily Allen's Smile was tow weeks adrift of the top stop it previously claimed, James Morrison was stuck at 5, McFly were predictably falling after being at the top the week before, Madge climbed considerably to 7 with the third single from Confessions, The Rougue Traders dropped a touch to 8, Kasabian triumphantly returned at 9 with Empire (one of the songs of the year imo) and Nelly Furtado was suffering her last week on the chart with the deleted ex-number 1 Maneater.

Elsewhere, Kelly Clarkson was at 6, yo-yoing in the top 10, Daddy Jankee (whooo?) and MVP were at 7 and 8, Ex Blue star Lee Ryan had one of his few solo hits down at 9, and that bloody frog was at 10. :arrr:

S Club Juniors crashed in at 2 with Automatic High, their second straight number 2 hit. They were later to become S Club 8 before disappearing off the face of the earth. Poor Calvin. Shakira was new at 3, following up the huge Whenever Wherever, Scooter dropping to 4, Ja Rule was new at 5 as was Vanessa Carlton at 6. Nelly (not Furtado) was up at 7 with Hot in Herre, Flip n Fill dropped to 8 with the excellent Shooting Star, Linkin park were new at 9 with High Voltage and Ahanti was down at 10. A little somthing I just cooked up. Thanks to Mikey for the chart info.

That week in 2002 was legendary :o

Shakira, Vanessa Carlton, S Club Juniors, Linkin Park. I even quite liked that Gareth song :(

Such great memories <3

2006 is my favourite chart from that lot.

Most of those from 2005 were awful songs- Eminem, 2 Pac, Crazy Frog etc :puke2:

OPM - Heaven Is A Halfpipe

Reminds me so much of School :cheer:

The 2005 top 10 was a bit odd...Blunt, Powter, Mariah and Kelly were amongst my ten favourite songs of 2005 however the other 6 in the top 10 that week were atrocious

Tripple 8 were an awful boyband.

Had two top ten hits at #8 and #9 and staged a comeback in 2005 I think which did awful?

Not sure - c**p anyway.

GO VANESSA CARLTON & JAMELIA!

Not sure - c**p anyway.

That was a completely pointless comeback because they just re-released Give Me A Reason, which had already been a top 10 hit in a time when the public were more acceptable of boybands

Its a toss between 06/04/02 for my favs (even though a few artists I wasn't to ecstatic with though lol), loved this though.
