when in corfu last week there was so many oldies that had been 'dancified'.. ie an old track having a dance beat dubbed over it.

i hate those lazy ways of creating 'new' music, whatever happend to originality? how could such a brilliant inspiring genre like trance just dissappear from mainstream in favour of these awful remixes?

it aint good for the genre, it aint good for music... will someone please start composing decent original dance music!

true... thats the best original dance track since juliet 'avalon'.

I take it then that you dont like artists such as Booty Luv?

all the trance songs are being remixed into electro tracks

So far i've heard new 2007 versions of:

CRW - I Feel Love

York - On The Beach

Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar

Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel

Verracocha - Carte Blanche

Lucid - I Cant Help Myself

Bedrock - Heaven Scent

Three Drives - Greece 2000

Art Of Trance - Madagascar

Alice Deejay - Better Off Alone

Vincent De Moor - Fly Away

Ian Van Dahl - Castles In The Sky

Solar Stone - 7 Cities

I'd love to hear the electro version of this :o

I think there is a little trance revival bubbling under (and by trance, I mean the real-deal a la Gatecrasher).

I had the 'privalege' of hearing a re-working of David Bowie 'Lets Dance' yesterday... it was as bad as you can imagine. The 80s looped sound is pretty much dead now (AMEN!). Some real great original stuff out there at the mo, I think it's just a case of looking a little deeper.

Well the 2007 version of this is still trance actually, remixed by CJ Stone. Although there might be other remixes.

I used to  trance more than any other genre but commercial trance has become very samey hence it dying out in recent years and a lot of trance sounds very dated because of this...the only real pop trance successes in the last year were Cascada and Mickey Modelle vs Jessy and both of those could have fit right into the late 90's music scene...

Which is why I think R & B has become the dominant genre now worldwide (UK indie does upsettingly well here at the moment) because a lot of it uses original samples, often from dance tracks e.g. Kanye sampling Daft Punk...You can definitely hear an electro influence in a lot of R & B tracks nowadays

Is it a lot different?

100% FULL TRUTH mate... The mainstream Dance genre has become a laughing stock, sh!t, even tripe like 2 Untalented were a bit more original than most of the z-rate product that's infesting the genre like a dose of clap...

What we need are new, inspiring artists to come in and really shake things up like back in the day when you had the likes of KLF, Altern-8, Orbital, 808 State, Utah Saints, The Shamen and The Prodigy doing the rounds... The genre NEEDS acts of this calibre breaking through, or it's simply gonna die on its arse....

some tracks just cant be remixed, the originals are simply too good. York - On The Beach

Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar

Paul Van Dyk - For An Angel

Verracocha - Carte Blanche......... ESPECIALLY

just should never be touched.

i wouldnt put the likes of ian van dahl in the same catagory as verracoha, energy 52, or paul van dyk..

I have seen a new video to Energy 52's Cafe Del Mar recently but its still the 1998 radio edit...amazingly though it seems to be an ageless song as it still doesn't sound outdated

Yeah they just remix them and they all sound worse imo

Energy 52 will be getting re-released over and over and over again. The track is absolutely timeless.

On a more personal level though, Vercocha 'Carte Blanche' is the defining Gatecrasher anthem! Utter, utter choonage! And because it was never a massive hit at the time, it was never overplayed to buggery at the time.

I HATE it when rappers waltz in and take other artist's beats just because they are sooo talented (not) and do not have the slightest clue as to how to make their own! original tracks and beats to add, they frequently wouldn't know a decent lyric if it crawled up their backside, so not only are they taking other's artists beats, they are massacring the beat of the original composition with dumb lyrics that sound like they've been written by a 13 year old senseless teenager who thinks that "cars, hoes, bling, shawtays, and money" are the world.

Here is a fantastic innovative dance track before it got totally desecrated for me:

Daft Punk - Harder Better Faster Stronger

After

Kanye West - Stronger :manson:

Even Puff Daddy, P Diddy or whatever he calls himself this minute has not come up with a track so lame as this incredibly lazy record.
