people DONT get around lie detectors m8, they can possibly beat it once in ten questions, or they can cause an 'inconclusive' result (which would mean 'guilty not proven'). theres a difference between using a lie detector test to see if someones guilty and using the test to convict someone. ok, they arnt reliable enough to be used for a secure conviction, but if they failed it then all the plods would have to do is prove it! theyd put all their resources into the right direction. but tbh, theres no evidence to suggest they are guilty, and if they passed the lie detector test then that for me would (until any compelling evidence emerged) be enough.

If the one question a person does beat it on is the biggie though Rob, what then...? The McCanns are doing this safe in the knowledge that it cannot be used to secure a conviction, whatever the result.. If an "inconclusive" result comes up, then they could just say that it's down to the "stress of the whole thing".. Bottom line, I dont trust these machines one iota, and I would never willingly submit to take a test.. As I say, compulsive liars can get round them and innocent people who get stressed out by the very nature of the test can get caught out even if they are not lying....

The whole thing just stinks of yet more PR tbh.... Hey, why not go the whole hog and get Jeremy fukkin' Kyle to do it on his show..... <_<

they dont ask 1 biggie...

im not saying its a definitive thing, but its a bloody good indicator. technonolgy has come a long way and these tests are far more accurate then before, the likelyhood of an incorrect verdict is 4%! so... thats one question in 25!

if they pass it then they probably are innocent..

I'd admit I was wrong and bloody well take responsibility for my actions, should I do something so unbelievably stupid in the first place (which I wouldn't...), neither of these two have even admitted they made a mistake or stood up in a court and admitted the crimes they have committed - ie neglect and wreckless child endangerment. I'd maybe have a bit more respect for them if they actually did.... I certainly wouldn't try to cover up my mistakes by going on endless lame PR exercises which do absolutely NOTHING to help matters and only add to the fog and confusion....

But how can we be sure it IS about covering their c**k-up, and not about Madeleine? And wasn't Kate on record as having said on the night "We've let Madeleine down"?

Exactly! They obviously know they've done wrong in leaving Madelaine alone, but I think it's fair of them to do the 'endless PR' if it helps them find their daughter.

It's a bit wishy-washy though innit..? It's not the same thing as saying "Yes, we were negligent, and we should be punished for it..". The only person here being punished for their stupidity is Maddie... That can't be right, can it...?

On Holiday in spain.. I did not see 1 person who found the mccanns innocent...

Says it all

LMAO! How does that say it all? It says nothing, other than that too many people believe what they read in the tabloids.

I don't believe for one second that the parents killed her. You only need to look at their faces to see they are tortured and want their little girl back. And it doesn't matter whether lie detectors are accurate or not, the fact that they are willing to do one surely says something.

Of course they were stupid for leaving their children alone but that negligence is a different crime entirely from murder.

Exactly... So, how come the McCanns aint being charged with the crimes they have committed then....?? <_< It aint as if those charges wont stick for lack of evidence.... Murderers or not, they are still guilty of a crime and should be punished for that crime, NOT indulged or treated like some kind of bloody heroes or martyrs by the media.....

You cannot be serious. Of course they have been punished. I can't think of a many worse punishments for a parent than to be accused of killing your own daughter and becoming public enemy number one and your life no doubt ruined. I can't believe you would even attempt to suggest they have'nt payed for their stupidiy after all of this.

Done any prison time yet for the crimes they did commit, have they....? Sorry mate, while they're still walking around free and NOT in a court of law on charges of negligence and wreckless child endangerment, then it aint a 'punishment' is it...?

agreed!

A court might take a different view. If they ever faced a jury trial for neglect I suspect there would be enough people who thought "they've suffered enough" to prevent a conviction. Even if they were convicted, a judge may pass a lenient sentence for the same reason. I don't like the McCanns any more than most people here so don't think I'm trying to make excuses for them.

Of course, in the unlikely event that she's found alive, things might be different.

They are hardly going to go to prison in any event. If all parents who left their kids alone were to go to prison, there would not be enough room for serious criminals

Besides, who's to say they wont have to go to court or be charged for child neglect? If and once they are cleared then action may be taken.

A photo has been found which could be Madaleine apparently...

Well anyone with common sence who took that picture would of rushed in and snatched her back, thats if it is her.

:o It certainly looks like it could be her, and considering that a man said he was 100% sure he saw her in Morrocca, as well as another women thinking she saw her, than it could very well be her.

They probably didn't realise they'd even taken a picture of her until it was developed or something. I bet a lot of people wouldn't though anyway, most people wouldn't be able to immediately realise whether it was her or not tbh.

Precisely! The courts told that vile Liverpudlian Heroin dealer woman off for leaving the vidous dog alone with the baby girl, and she got a mere slap on the wrist - and yet two parents should be charged when they're clearly in immense distress at the fact that their baby girl is missing? Hardly seems fair.

Hmm true. It's just after all the sightings, not one person has been smart/clever enough to find a way to get closer and get a proper view, just to be sure. :P

Some of the British campaigners have been using the slogan "Look into her eyes" because of the defect in one of her eyes. Can you imagine the reaction in the UK if some bloke insisted on looking in to some young girl's eyes?
