Posted September 5, 200717 yr I got a bit bored so decided to go through the rest of the group games in group E and see how the table came out. Here is what I got... Teams Pld Pts GD W D L F A Croatia 12 30 20 9 3 0 27 7 Russia 12 25 19 7 4 1 23 4 England 12 24 13 7 3 2 20 7 Israel 12 21 10 6 3 3 22 12 F.Y.R. Macedonia 12 13 -4 4 1 7 11 15 Estonia 12 6 -17 2 0 10 5 22 Andorra 12 0 -41 0 0 12 2 43 I honestly don't see England qualifying now tbh. We're going to rue losing points against FYR Macedonia and Israel I think, and in the remaining games I can see us getting maximum points from Israel and below, and even a win against Russia when we play them at home. But we still have to play Russia in Moscow after that and Croatia at home. Croatia have a p*** easy run in tbh so are near dead certs to go through first, but I really fear for England. Could be the first time since World Cup 1994 (?) that we're not involved in a major event. The bookies are offering similar odds for England and Russia qualifying too. So what does everyone else think of our chances? List of fixtures and stuff here... http://www.uefa.com/competitions/euro/stan...group=2634.html As for the other British sides, Scotland will come 3rd or 4th in their group behind France, Italy and maybe Ukraine; Wales are pretty f***ed anyway being miles behind the leaders; but Northern Ireland could be the shock of the qualifiers I reckon. :o They're in a great position atm and with Latvia and Iceland as their next two opponents they could get a bit of a lead over Sweden and Spain going. :funky:
September 5, 200717 yr I honestly am not sure that they will qualify. (I would love Northern Ireland to though ;) )
September 5, 200717 yr Will the 3rd placed team go into a play off ? I will be surprised if England don't qualify but on the other hand I wouldn't care really as it would mean our yobs can't disgrace the country abroad yet again

I will be surprised if England don't qualify but on the other hand I wouldn't care really as it would mean our yobs can't disgrace the country abroad yet again Nope the 3rd place team won't go into the play off, as it is a joint hosting Austria and Switzerland have allready qualified, and only 16 teams go into the Europian championship so, the top 2 from 7 groups go into the 14 spaces and then it is full. I think it would be good if England didn't qualify as it might send a shock to their systems. However I have nagging feeling they might just do it. Scotland would probably had qualified from any other group, they just had bad luck to have the 2 world cup finalists in the group along with a world cup 1/4 finalist. Third place in Group B would be a great achivemnet for Scotland and will put them in a good mind for 2010 world cup qualifying Wales are screwd but seam to now have a good set up and may have a better shot in the qualifying for the 2010 world cup. Northen Ireland if they get 6points from their next two games, which they really should will then have a great chance of qualifying. There is still a chance none of the 4 home nations will qualify, which will leave big questions about British football.
September 5, 200717 yr I hope England qualify but i'm not so sure. It's kind of a blessing in disguise for McLaren that Gerrard was injured to begin with as it mean he could play Lampard without having to drop Gerrard, but now that Lampard is injured they need Gerrard to play and the fact that they might possibly give him a painkilling injection to get through the game just goes to show how desprate England and McLaren are to have Gerrard playing. If England don't qualify though, all the players and everyone involved won't live it down. The fans will be extremely annoyed and the media will have a field day. It might also serve as a wake up call to the fact that England are lacking good young footballers for the future major tournaments and qualifying rounds so then maybe something can be done about that.
September 5, 200717 yr I think we should. In the likes of Young, Heskey and Lescott he's finally realised what he has been playing isn't good enough. SWP on the right, Cole on the left, Owen and Heskey upfront, Richards powering up from full-back. Easy win on saturday!

The measures in place to prevent knwn trouble makers travelling to away games are having the desired effect.
September 5, 200717 yr Short answer, no.... The media are talking as if Israel will be a cakewalk even with half of the "star" players of ours missing. Well no it won't. With the links of Benayoun, Ben Haim, Sahar, and others I can't remember we will struggle to get the 3pts on current form. And as for this whole club v country nonsense surrounding Gerrard, Liverpool are just serving up double standards, do they forget they gave an injection to Gerrard too, to play against Chelski ^_^
September 5, 200717 yr No, Current Table: Group E (Top 4) Teams Pld W D L GF GA Pts Croatia 7 5 2 0 16 4 17 Israel 8 5 2 1 17 7 17 Russia 7 4 3 0 11 1 15 England 7 4 2 1 12 2 14 I predict: England 08/09/07 Israel 2-0 Russia 08/09/07 F.Y.R. Macedonia 3-1 Croatia 08/09/07 Estonia 3-0 Andorra 12/09/07 Croatia 0-3 England 12/09/07 Russia 1-1 England 13/10/07 Estonia 5-0 Croatia 17/10/07 Israel 2-1 Russia 17/10/07 England 1-1 F.Y.R. Macedonia 17/11/07 Croatia 1-2 Israel 17/11/07 Russia 1-2 England 21/11/07 Croatia 3-1 Israel 21/11/07 F.Y.R. Macedonia 2-0 Andorra 21/11/07 Russia 0-2 Final Table: Group E (Top 4) Teams Pld W D L GF GA Pts Croatia 12 9 2 1 29 7 29 Russia 12 7 5 0 20 5 26 England 12 7 4 1 24 5 25 Israel 12 6 2 4 21 13 20 In short the draw early in the campaign at home against Macedonia when a fit David Beckham was nowhere near the England set-up will cost us very, very dearly.
September 5, 200717 yr I dunno about England but i think Spain won't and I also I hope "we" don't enter :D
September 6, 200717 yr With the links of Benayoun, Ben Haim, Sahar, and others I can't remember we will struggle to get the 3pts on current form. They're the best you can pick? Two people who aren't near Chelsea's 1st XI and Liverpool's second choice RM. Their first choice is about England's 5th/6th.
September 6, 200717 yr They're the best you can pick? Two people who aren't near Chelsea's 1st XI and Liverpool's second choice RM. Their first choice is about England's 5th/6th. well Chelsea aren't renouned for playing the best players now are they ;) and as for Liverpool who knows who first choice is with the amount of rotation.
September 7, 200717 yr Well it's been confirmed now Gerrard is playing [injection or no injection] so that should give England a boost, is unlikely Hargreaves will play though. But Robinson's still gonna be #1 keeper apparently! :arrr:
September 7, 200717 yr I'm going to be optimistic and say I think we will qualify but it may well be close. To go from the World Cup quarter-finals to struggling to come in the top two of a modest qualifying group for the Euros in the space of a year is embarrassing.
September 8, 200717 yr fact - if the media didn't have their own little vendetta against Sven we'd be top of the group, unbeaten. Instead we play with a keeper who the whole team will have no confidence in, a limping midfielder, and a striker who's match sharpness is still games away.

We scraped our way to get that far though. We played pretty direly all through the WC tbh.
