Many years ago Capital Radio had a competition where they started by playing just one note from a song. The following day they played two notes and so on until someone got it right. It became almost a running joke that early callers guessed Puppet On A String. When they decided to end the competition, Puppet On A String was the final song. It was obvious from the first note and, indeed, someone got it right on the first day. It was surprising how many songs could be identified just from the first one, two or three notes.
