December 11, 200717 yr The album was good but it's not easy to listen through an hour of vocal gymnastics. :/
December 12, 200717 yr I went for the second one. I think this is my favourite album of hers. I love the old fashioned/Jazz sound of "Aint No Other Man" and "Candyman". "Hurt" is her best song out of anything she's released in my opinion. "Oh Mother" is a good song too. I just think the promotion has been bad.
December 12, 200717 yr Second option! Should have released the singles quicker! 1.Ain't No Other Man 2.Candyman 3.Hurt 4.Slow Down Baby 5.Oh Mother
December 12, 200717 yr Yes. Awful album and awful era - Shame as Stripped was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
December 31, 200717 yr I wasn't too fussed about this era but it wasn't awful either. And the management was the worst so you do the math.
January 4, 200817 yr Management was awful. Too much time between singles and some wrong single choices. But the album itself is a masterpiece.
April 11, 200817 yr I found the album a chore to listen to. Overproduced. Overlayered vocals. Most of the songs were, frankly, a bit $h!t and the single choices, excluding ANOM & Hurt, were stupid. Good riddance to a c**p album.
April 12, 200817 yr The problems were that the single's were 5/6 months apart and the vocal aerobics got a bit too annoying
April 23, 200817 yr CD 2 was awesome, CD 1 was :puke2: Nothing compared to the mightly stipped. I don't know why they released 'Ain't No Other Man' first. And to release 'Oh Father' like 10 years after the last single  they cocked it up majorly. I was way to long aswell. Stripped is 20 tracks, but about 5 of them were just short interludes. Back to Basics was just a contridiction. It was about 25 tracks. If it was upto me they should have released CD 2 with about 5 tracks from CD 1. I'm on a bit of a rant now, but that last track on CD 1 'Thank You (Dedication to Fans)' what was she thinking?? pass the sick bucket... On the plus side, it did have a nice booklet with the album, on that nice photo paper - it smelt really nice when i first opened it :P Edited April 23, 200817 yr by Glyn
July 5, 200817 yr I thought Stripped wasn't much cop aside from the singles and about 2 or 3 other tracks, I thought this album was more solid, although it took me a while to get into it properly. They mucked it up a bit though, I mean only 2 singles really got released properly. I don't know what went wrong with 'Hurt', it's a truly amazing ballad. And they should have bloody released 'Slow Down Baby'. :arrr: As for this vocal gymnastics thing, I don't really agree. I think she was much worse with that prior to this album and I thought she learned to apply her vocals perfectly to suit the emotions/feel of the songs and only belt out where necessary.
