nd remember it was released in a tough week, the sales are good, and i think the single is the best they have ever released!!

Has anyone noticed there is a pattern with Sugababes singles? With each album:

1st single, biggest seller - highest chart position

2nd single, sales decline a little, chart position a little lower

3rd single, sales decline, chart position lower

4th single, sales decline, chart position lower

There are a couple of exceptions but it is like the standard rule for Sugababes releases, so if there was a 4th single - i kinda dread what might happen to it

I reckon they'll do a 4th video and just digitally release it.
I reckon Never Gonna Dance Again if released just on downloads could have a Pink - Leave Me Alone style run ^_^
A download-only 4th single with a live video from the tour could be fabulous! But I doubt it would make the Top 40, because the chances are that knowing it was download-only, radio wouldn't play it so much, and they wouldn't promote either.
Whatever they release can't flop as badly as FMH did

Oh and I really liked Follow Me Home, well the original version the one with Amelle her vocals don't do the track justcie in quite the same way its a little cold but I still enjoy it, I was really shocked that happened and to follow on from 3 huge hits was quite a shock.

After the last two singles and yes always their 4th release is usually quite a small hit, I dread to think what can happen to a 4th single from this album, but then it could pass by the last two and be a big hit, we will just have to wait and see.

To be fair on Follow Me Home, it came out - and was the 1st Sugababes single - to now have CD:UK and TOTP and TOTP Reloaded to help it. Suddenly there was nowhere to promote it and at the same time people were buying digitally instead of physically, so Follow Me Home just fell apart. Thank god it seems a lot more settled now

LOL, ouch. :heehee: One more week Top 75, I'm thinking. It'll probably wrap up with sales of about 67.5k.
Its managed 12 weeks so far in the top 75, so its done well considering its #15 peak
10 weeks top 75 :D good for third single :D

pretty good run though was the biggest drop in the top 75 this week :(

Re: your earlier post, Think you are of course correct that downloads have changed the charts in the last 5-10 years renegade, but sales will still be directly compared. All the "biggest selling" charts don't differentiate between the pre and post download (legal or otherwise) era, and while it looks to me that many songs now have longer runs overall and don't always debut at their peak position, (a bit like the chart was 20+ years ago in fact, have we come full circle?), sales of individual singles are in fact falling!

So Sugababe's sales record with denial is particularly impressive.

A great example of this is Umbrella by Rihanna last year- the joint longest running no1 by a female artist ever. And with 10 weeks at number one and around 30 weeks in top 75 last year (consecutive until year end) it still only scraped over half a mil. Thinking of a hit from the earlier period you were referring to roughly, Can't get you out of my head by kylie (2001) had only 4 weeks at no1 i believe and around 25 weeks in top 75 but sold well over a million copies.

Ramble over! Basically i'm saying i think denial sales are really good, and even better than some of their other higher charting songs based on current market conditions! Phew!

Hey, also from this list:

48 46 Sugababes About you now 55150

From the end of year list last year believe it sold 346,420 so is this also sufficient to update AYN's sales figure? (Total 401,570)

^_^

Ahem?

Did Denial's picture never get added
Denial 64050, 6000 more than the last update :D
Yay, it's still selling nicely! :D Been quite the hit really, despite the peak.
