October 6, 200717 yr yeah its like people are not actually bothered about finding out new music, just want tracks to fill up the space so when it comes out on the ad its like well i must download that nooooooooooow!!! should have charted weeks ago I totally agree. It was in My Personal Chart Top10 3/4 months ago when it failed to make the UK Top75. Yet the same people then who did not like the track, like it now because it is featured on some advert. I find that very depressing. But then again what can you expect in a world of brain dead morons who think some act is good just because they've appeared on an ITV talent show and Simon Cowell or Louis Walsh says they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, so they must be. Or truly wretched Disney acts like the High School Musical franchise & Aly & Aj that make badly made musical fluff that makes Britney Spears seem like PJ Harvey in comparison.

Sugababes getting to No 1 on download sales is impressive, especially as About You Now is one of the weediest songs they've done. But it was in the lower Top 40 the week before, also on download sales. Why the sudden sales surge the second week? And it's really dull that the same songs are in the Top 40 for months". Die Fieldmouse well obv this happened because of all the ads that said download this record now on the hits.
October 6, 200717 yr Glad people are finally taking some notice of her I remember me asking where she was originally in the midweeks and you told me, then we had a brief conversation about how it was too low, looks like we get the last laugh  Everytime I hear this song and sing along in my head I want to go "1, 2, 3, 4... let me hear ya scream if you want some more like ahhh push it push it" :( Damn crappy dance songs to hell, TO HELL. One of my favourite songs this year :w00t:
October 6, 200717 yr should have charted weeks ago And i agree with this. And i hate the fact that Radio 1 are all over her now just because she's POPULAR -_-
October 6, 200717 yr And i agree with this. And i hate the fact that Radio 1 are all over her now just because she's POPULAR -_- When it was a former Radio 2 Record Of The Week when it first came out..... It's like Amy Winehouse's Rehab all over again, when this time last year the Controller of Radio 1 mocked complaints about not playlisting the then Radio 2 Record of The Week because he said in October 2006 "Radio 1 is a vibrant music station for 16-24 year olds playing exciting new music, it is not the job of Radio 1 to play retro sounding music like Amy Winehouse". The excellent piece in this/last month's The Word magazine is right. Radio 1 is a joke when it comes to breaking new British music acts. Thank God for Radio 2.

The excellent piece in this/last month's The Word magazine is right. Radio 1 is a joke when it comes to breaking new British music acts. Thank God for Radio 2. man you are not the only one, also from teletext some opinions left on the site about radio one: When Radio 1 boss Ben Cooper named The Pigeon Detectives as the most exciting new band in Britain, I hope Earls laughed in his face. Of all the unadventurous, ho-hum, Kaiser Chiefs-copying bands out there, how could he have picked them? If anything ever summed up Radio 1's pathetic attitude to music, it's that. Forget about excitement, let's pick a bunch of careerists to champion. Mind you, I like I'm Not Sorry. by Goranoia Did Radio 1's Ben Cooper have his fingers crossed behind his back when he said most people perceive the station as doing a good job? I don't know of anyone my age (23) that likes it. I can't remember all the DJs that were meant to have been naff like Gary Davies and Bruno Brookes. Can they have been cheesier than Moyles, Whiley or Cox? Huw Stevens and Zane Lowe are the only DJs I've heard there who know what they're on about. by Karen Warren It's hilarious how Ben Cooper totally contradicted himself in defending Radio 1's balance between mainstream and championing new music. None of the DJs he mentioned like Mary Anne Hobbs and Gilles Peterson are on air before midnight! by Rexciter If this Greg James is such a hot new DJ, why are Radio 1 giving him the 5am slot? Give that to no-mark Kelly Osbourne and let's see if James can cut it to non-insomniacs. by Kanye's Vest Anyone who says The Pigeon Detectives are the best new band is plainly an idiot. Ben Cooper would be laughed off The Void if he came here, and Radio 1 is terrible. Am I alone in thinking XFM has gone rapidly downhill too? Its playlist is even less adventurous than Radio 1 these days. by Helen Watts
October 6, 200717 yr I remember me asking where she was originally in the midweeks and you told me, then we had a brief conversation about how it was too low, looks like we get the last laugh  Too true :yahoo: Gotta love the bandwagon jumpers ^_^
October 6, 200717 yr actually someone on teletext was complaining about the charts as well: well obv this happened because of all the ads that said download this record now on the hits. I saw that...though it was the fact that Sugas only hd a remix on iTunes which caused it to enter at #35...for the casual chart observer I can see why this would look like a ridiculous climb
October 6, 200717 yr Yeah this was #01 for me some months ago on my personal chart. GET US LOT EH This topic is quite interesting, it shows how many people's minds work when it comes to music and knowing what they want to like given its status as 'mainstream' and 'popular' against 'indie' and 'unpopular'. Tis ood o:
October 7, 200717 yr When I first heard this (I confess not long ago) I thought it sounded like the New Seekers (I Want TO Teach The World To Sing) - it does have that kind of vibe to it. The video is excellent - as Ricky says, if it was one take, it must have taken alot of rehersal!
October 7, 200717 yr I have liked her since 'Let It Die' and its killing me slightly seeing all the swarms of people over her now. :/ I have spoken to so many people who have gone, "Oh, I love the new iPod song - yeah, that 1234 song". Ugh. I hate how after a month everyone will drop her and she will always be remembered for this song, even though her albums have been of amazing quality and she is one of the best members of BSS. hmph. Well done to her though and she was amazing last week. As long as nothing similar happens to Emily Haines I will be happy. I don't think I could handle people over both of them. :o Edited October 7, 200717 yr by Notso_Hampson
October 7, 200717 yr Author The video is excellent - as Ricky says, if it was one take, it must have taken alot of rehersal! Pretty sure it's not one take but has about 6 breaks. Only one that I noticed was the section at the end where a shadow disappears behind her. There must be a break in the first 10 seconds also as she walks in from the right then you pan around to the left viewing all the floor level lights and then as the image straights up, dancers fall out from behind her - which can't logically be there unless there is some break.
October 7, 200717 yr It was taken in one take, the director has confirmed that, it wasn't edited either. It's all camera trickery, when all the dancers run around from the left all they did was stand behind the camera while it pans across and then run over to where they are to "appear". It was just heavily rehearsed is all.

I don't think I could handle people over both of them. :o I wouldn't say it's a bad thing she's getting all this attention. I mean, it will always be her signature song and all, but 1234 has got a lot of people interested in her. On dailymotion.com Mushaboom was featured on the front page for quite sometime. I think the indie crowd in the US will probably embrace her, so I think while she will never reach the mainstream again, she'll still have a lot more popularity than before. :) And I think she could chart again in the UK with a rerelease of My Moon, My Man, or possibly I Feel It All.
October 8, 200717 yr What is the fuss about this song, everyone I know is like "OMGZ that song is like the best thing since sliced bread!!!!11!!!1ONE!". I don't get it at ALL. Does everyone know something I don't? Edited October 9, 200717 yr by Dirty Pop
October 9, 200717 yr What is the fuss about this song, everyone I know is like "OMGZ that song is like the best thing sine sliced bread!!!!11!!!1ONE!". I don't get it at ALL. Does everyone know something I don't? Totally agree, I'm just not getting all the mass hysteria over this whatsoever. :( Very ordinary and borderline irritating IMO.
October 9, 200717 yr I've loved this for ages. It reached #3 in my personal chart and has now been in there for 12 weeks. My Moon, My Man also charted for 7 weeks peaking at 12.
October 9, 200717 yr I actually haven't been fond of 1234 till recently. Not because it's just so popular now, but because it's surge in popularity prompted me to relisten to it. Love it a lot more now, though The Reminder has MUCH better (So Sorry, My Moon My Man, and I Feel It All. Past In Present, also). That's why it didn't chart for me originally.
