Posted October 9, 200717 yr  Arsenal should leave the English premiership and join French Ligue 1. It amazes me how the team heading the English premiership does not play a single Englishman week in, week out. Theo Walcott is a great player and a great future England player, but will he get the chance. I don't think so. Frenchman and the odd Spaniard, thats all he ever plays. I used to hate Chelsea the most but at least they field English players. Everything about Arsenal these days is foreign, not that i've got anything against them, i just can't wait to see if this new law comes in where they have to field 5 or 6 homegrown players. If they don't, the likes of Arsene Wenger and Sven will just destroy the English game and we won't have an England team in the future.
October 9, 200717 yr I hope a team built of predominantly English players ala Aston Villa win a trophy this season
October 9, 200717 yr Shut up. Like Arsenal would win a trophy if they fielded over rated, over priced Englishman every week. All the best English players are taken, who do you expect them to buy? c**p strikers like Andy Johnson to replace far better players like Van Persie just because he is foreign. Get over it!!!
October 9, 200717 yr Plus Arsenal have more England u17's I think than any other team, something like 7. So they are bringning through some English talent.

Of course he isn't c**p you idiot.
October 9, 200717 yr Of course he isn't c**p you idiot. Yes,, that's why he has scored 1 goal since march and no goals in 7 caps. Even my dad who is an Everton fan doesn't rate him. You idiot.

October 9, 200717 yr Well there's no rules in the Premier League to say you should English players. Fact is barely any teams now from the Premier League are promoting youngesters into the first team [especially from the Top4 clubs] and unless some rules in put in place I see there being less and less English players coming through because all the clubs now in England are getting taken over from overseas business men or rich English businessmen so there's loads of money at the clubs disposal to go and buy any player they want across the world.
October 9, 200717 yr Unless they change the rules and have things like "3 home-grown players" in each squad like they do in some leagues, then its always going to happen. Arsenal aren't the only ones, and to be fair you're probably an Spurs fan CDADJ. All Premiership Clubs do it, even Aston Villa have loads of foriegn players.
October 9, 200717 yr There is no way a 6 home grown player rule could ever work as it's gone way too far now. You'd have to start with 2 and gradually develop it for the next 5-10 years. I'd love to see English talent come through and the top teams be filled with English players but all English players go for ridiculously high prices in comparison to better foreign players.

If the 5-6 player rule did come in Villa would wipe the floor with the rest of the Premiership...

To be fair i think that Arsenal have a great squad of players and are playing fantastic football. But i would like to see a club win the premiership with a good amount of English or British players. Aston Villa or West Ham even. :)

All the best English players are taken, who do you expect them to buy? c**p strikers like Andy Johnson to replace far better players like Van Persie just because he is foreign. Get over it!!! Get over what. I am merely stating that Arsenal do not play any British players. You sell Henry and who do you play instead - Theo Walcott - No, Adebayor. I admit Arsenal play fantastic football but how can they be called a British club anymore when everything from your players to your boardroom is foreign. You say you are bringing through youth but when do they ever get a chance. Whenever Man Utd or Chelsea play cup games they play British youngsters, even sometimes in the Premier league but whenever Arsenal make a substitution - Surprise Surprise - another foreigner. As for overpriced English players, they are only this expensive because clubs know how hard they are to come by these days, thanks to foreign managers and there foreign owners always buying abroad.
October 9, 200717 yr Author Boro is where it's at :funky: our youth academy is second to none ^_^ Yes, you have some great players. Don't know about your youth academy. I wolud like to See Spurs win the Uefa Cup, Boro, West Ham or Villa win the FA cup or Spurs of course and out of the big 4 i would like to see Man u win the league. Showcasing British talent throughout. :)
October 9, 200717 yr Man Utd? When was the last British player that they actually brought through to their team and became a regular? Richardson/Fletcher were probably the last ones and they've been around for years!
October 9, 200717 yr Why make this just about Arsenal? Spurs only had 3 Englishmen out in their last game, and as you were talking about Englishmen in the original post i won't mention Keane and Bale, so that is only 3. I know that's not the best argument in the world, but as i've heard and said time and time again, it's not Arsene Wenger's job to create good players for England.
October 9, 200717 yr Oh and before i forget, the Arsenal being French thing is old now. We used 4 Frenchmen at the weekend, and Spurs used 3. But hey Spurs are SHOWCASING that English talent :D
