Coronation Street couple Ashley and Claire Peacock will face mounting debt problems in an upcoming storyline, The Sun reports.

Claire (Julia Haworth) is furious when she discovers that husband Ashley (Steven Arnold) has been using their life savings to help keep their butcher's shop from going under.

She panics when her credit card is declined and discovers it is over the limit. When Ashley's request to the bank to extend the credit is refused, the couple are forced to sell their home to Sally and Kevin Webster.

The plotline will air later this month and reflects the recent credit crunch in the UK and the troubles faced by the bank Northern Rock.

"We keep our storylines current. People who are experiencing similar problems will identify with the plot," a source said.

^^^ ummm...it's an okay storyline, but it's not going to attract major interest in the show. It seems that Coronation Street is going steeply downhill. None of the current storylines are entertaining, the character's are getting exhausted and boring and the scriptwriting is seriously rubbish compared to the past.

They need new characters and some massive, ott storylines to generate viewers.

CORRIE midwife Marcus Dent is set to quit the Street this summer after being caught up in a sensational ‘love triangle’ storyline.

Actor Charlie Condou, who once lived with pop hellraiser Robbie Williams, has played the boyfriend of much-loved resident Sean Tully for the past year but said it’s time to leave for acting pastures new – including work on a movie.

Meanwhile, the move - which Charlie speculated would leave his character in the middle of a messy love triangle - spells more heartache for popular Rovers barman Sean who has just lost his sperm donor son, Dylan.

Charlie said: “I have had a fantastic time but this is the right time to move on, there are a few things in the pipeline one of which is a feature film but it is all under wraps at the moment.

“I have really enjoyed working with everybody at Coronation Street and I will miss all the cast and crew when I leave later on this year."

 the third person is probably Gail's gay dad

I can't say I'll miss him.

Jason Grimshaw is definitely over his split with Sarah after he indulges in a steamy romp with Becky Grainger.

The brickie was heartbroken when his wife Sarah left him and went to live abroad.

But Jason (Ryan Thomas, 23) regains his spirits later this month as he finally gives into his feelings for Becky (Katherine Kelly, 27).

Jason gives into his feelings for Becky as the pair indulge in a passionate kiss

He falls in love with Becky despite being told by property developer Tony Gordon (Gray O'Brien, 39) that his new woman isn't classy enough.

Becky is also wary of being left heartbroken again, after Jason leaves her and jets out to Italy to see his wife hours after their one-night stand.

On his return, the pair have a few drinks at Jason's house, where Becky counters his advances and tells him: 'How about we take things slowly, eh? I need to think about things.'

Jason replies: 'Look, I'm over Sarah now. Things are different. But if you want to cool it, that's fine.'

Becky responds with a peck on his cheek and leaves – but she returns moments later with a grin on her face.

'Alright,' she squeals, 'I've thought about it… get 'em off, handsome!'

Becky pushes him on to the stairs for a steamy kiss before dragging him upstairs for another passionate encounter.

A Coronation Street insider said: 'The relationship between Jason and Becky will be long and genuine.

'In typical Corrie tradition, it won't all be plain sailing and it will be action-packed.'

I'm posting this in all the shows I watch, like Corrie and EE, the rest

Who do you think are the most over-hyped charcters on the Street at the moment????

I vote for Michelle (I liked the charcter before this baby swap story) and David in particular because I'm bored of the characters.

Also, Sean bugs me, and more than likely everyone else in this forum will agree with me!!!!

What do you guys think then????

Sean's annoying. David's got ridiculous and don't get me started on the current Roy storyline.

Bit of an error in Corrie tonight. Ken said he got three points on his licence for doing 34 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour area. The law allows you to 10% of the limit plus one mile. So one wouldn't get points unless one was doing 35+ miles.

Haha when they carried Roy off the building site tonight it was so f***ing hilarious. :heehee:

Was great, they are all moaning on digitalspy saying that its gone even worse with tonights storyline, -_- I swear they are never happy unless someone is on a mudering spree. Some people just can't enjoy some light humour. -_-

I agree with them. Every storyline in tonight's episode was c**p. Roy and the bats. Sean and the holiday. Liz and the smoking shelter. Vernon and the Bookies. Leanne and the Bookies. Jason and the bats. Gerry and his son and the takeaway.

They need a new Richard Hillman

I do wish they'd get rid of the Mortons though, except the son, he can do a flat-share with David when David gets out of the Young Offender's Institute.

They need to give bigger storylines to Dev, Amber & Steve (Steve McDonald is woefully underused considering he's probably the show's best asset - after Becky).
