Posted October 15, 200717 yr Great News It will be soon time for the ‘Here and Now 2008’ tour and what a great line up of acts are playing this time. I think it could be the best line up of acts that they have ever had. The headliner will be the great soulful pop voice of Rick Astley, who will be singing all his amazing ‘PWL’ hits, whilst also on the bill are ‘Bananarama’, Paul Young, Martin Fry, Ben VP from ‘Curiosity’, ‘Johnny Hates Jazz’ and Nick van Ede from the ‘Cutting Crew’. I do not know what everybody’s local arena venue will be and when they will be playing, but if you live in the Manchester region, the tour will be coming to the M.E.N. Arena on Tuesday May 13th.
October 15, 200717 yr personally i dont like the concept of these tours... id sooner remember my fav retro acts as young and cool, not as ageing old men/women trying to live on past glories.
October 17, 200717 yr Can't say the line-up does anything for me. Although I was at school with Nick van Eede.
October 17, 200717 yr I think these reunion concerts are all a bit sad and degrading myself..... the only act worthy of being there are Bananarama, I think..... and they should know better :( Martin Fry? Without ABC? err..... and Paul Young..... he can't ever be frgiven for the Joy Division cover - or that track he did with Zucchero.
October 18, 200717 yr Author Martin Fry is performing under the name of ‘ABC’. In fact, I think the only time in the last twenty years he has not been listed under ‘ABC’ would be on something like on an old ‘Arthur Baker and the Backbeat Disciples’ or ‘King Britt’ album. I put Martin Fry down rather than ‘ABC’ as it looks like it will just be him performing solo with the ‘Here and Now’ backing band. I do not think there will be any other former members like Glenn Gregory, Mark White, ‘Eden’ or ‘ickle’ David Yarritu. Last time I heard anything about ‘ABC’ they, Martin Fry and David Palmer, were about to go into the recording studio to record an album called something like ‘Tourist’ or ‘Tourism’. On the other hand, you might know that Glenn Gregory and Keith Lowndes from the 1997 ‘ABC’ album, on ‘de/Construction Records’, now record as ‘Honeyroot’. Re: Ben VP & ‘Johnny Hates Jazz’ It looks like the man named ‘Benjamin Vol-au-vent Parrot’ by ‘Smash Hits’ will also be performing solo too, whilst three people were shown in the ‘Johnny Hates Jazz’ picture, though due to the fact that I only briefly looked at the advert, I cannot remember which vocalist it will be.
October 18, 200717 yr the advert is here from the Newcastle Metro Radio Arena website, though it isn't very big.
October 18, 200717 yr This is arguably the worst line up yet for a Here & Now Tour. I'll stick with seeing the Police & Duran Duran thank you.
