Posted May 7, 200619 yr Well following on from the other Stadium Arcadium thread, GRIMLY FIENDISH suggested that they shouldn't have released the double disc as you should leave the audience wanting more, with a double CD release though you kind of get plenty of material with more added on just for the fun of it. Personally I agree with the above statement but then again I'm not complaining at 25+ Chili Peppers songs on the album ^_^ What do YOU think?
May 7, 200619 yr Well it all depends on how good the songs are. Are their alot of songs that could've been taken off or are most of the songs good?
May 7, 200619 yr Author Well it all depends on how good the songs are. Are their alot of songs that could've been taken off or are most of the songs good? To be honest I couldn't give you a proper answer to that yet. I've heard the album about twice all the way through so it's not really stuck in my mind yet. There's the clear standout tracks but there's also the meh tracks that take a good few listens until you discover their brilliance. At the moment I'm liking the majoirty of the album but yeah I guess there are a few tracks which haven't done anything for me yet. Maybe they'll grow
May 7, 200619 yr Was going to say much the same as Scotty. Haven't heard any of it yet. If it turns out to be a mixture of some great songs but a lot of 'fillers' I'll say they should have stuck to one CD. Will post back later in the week when I've heard it. ;)
May 7, 200619 yr Well its been four years since their last studio album, three if you count their greatest hits album so it is a good idea to give the fans a double album. I haven't heard it yet, so I can't comment on it, but like all albums I expect their are stand out tracks on it. The Foo Fighters did a similar thing last year and that payed off for them........I think.
May 16, 200619 yr I've listened to both CDs 5 times each now. But I feel that it is overkill (at 28 tracks & 2hours+ music) & musically not diverse enough to pull it off, so the overall impression is that the album is not as good as Californication or By The Way. Personally I reckon they would have been better off releasing SA as two separate albums a year apart.
May 16, 200619 yr I think their are far to many songs but if it was narrowed down to about 12 it would be a five star album B)
May 16, 200619 yr It's good but I'm not as impressed as I thought I'd be. :( Been playing it a lot in the car in the hope it's a 'grower' but a lot of the songs seem quite 'samey'.
May 17, 200619 yr I think their are far to many songs but if it was narrowed down to about 12 it would be a five star album B) I agree B) How Q mag gave it 5 stars is boyond me  It is a good album and does have some very good songs but their are to many skippers
July 10, 200618 yr Yeah some good songs on here but i less woulda been more for this album. i woulda loved it if it were cut down to 15 and then put out, the 28 songs were way too many and as someone said didnt leave wanting more as other albums did.......... I was dissapointed with SA...... :(
July 15, 200618 yr I think the double CD ws too much. I like Jupiter a lot but get bored listening to Mars, so I'll treat it as a single CD in reality. They should have put the best tracks on a single CD , with the others on a special edition bonus CD for the big fans. Then the price for most people would not be so high either.
July 15, 200618 yr I don't like the double CD at all. There's some good songs on there but I feel there's a lot of average songs which all just blend into one and then you can't pick out the gems. It's only a double CD because the Chillis are big enough to not have to be picky - but they really should've been because they would have created a great album.
July 16, 200618 yr i dont think double albums work that well in general as the problem is the good songs are to far spread out on 2 cd's the chilli should have done a regular one cd release and put the stronger songs on 1 cd its a nice album but in no way there best
July 16, 200618 yr Still haven't bought it as I've heard so many mixed reviews of it.I've got Californication,By The Way and Greatest Hits but just can't decide whether I'd like enough tracks on this or not.
