Actually, Top of the Pops ratings went down because of the fact they changed the format, and generally f***ed it up.

 

Again, if the presenters are good enough people will put up with an inferior format. Yes, the format obviously has something to do with it but if the presenters are good enough people will still watch/listen.

Even if they miss them it's scandalous to not even mention them in between.

Actually, the vast majority is fact. It is their fault (they're atleast someway responsible), it wouldn't have hurt to have talked for an extra 3 seconds 7 times and they did kill TOTP.
