October 25, 200717 yr It says on the BBC that Ramos has agreed to take over at the beginning of next season. Again the rumours are that it could be a lot sooner, maybe as soon as next week ^_^ rumours of £3.3m compensation to Seville
October 25, 200717 yr Paid for a poor start of the season, but i think he did a good job with two top 6 finishes which Spurs fans shouldnt forget. But Spurs need a world class manager to take them to the next level.

But Spurs need a world class manager to take them to the next level. Well they need one soon to buck their ideas up! I don't know what's caused Spurs to perform so badly this season though, maybe too many big egos in the dressing room? It's confirmed now that he was sacked and he didn't resign.
October 26, 200717 yr The big probs this year have been Robbo and Dawson Robbo at his best has looked like David James at his worst and when he has been at his worst.... Dawson has been an absolute joke this season, has gone in one season from a Carragher / Terry level player to a Titus Bramble level player, poor coaching from Jol has to be the main reason  Ramos is a man of steel and the players are going to have to work their guts off for him as he does not take any $h!t off anyone so will be interesting to see how the players start performing Jol had to go, the results made his position untenable
October 26, 200717 yr Ramos is an idiot, leaving a much better Sevilla team who are in the champions league for struggling Spurs. They must be paying him a lot.
October 26, 200717 yr Ramos is an idiot, leaving a much better Sevilla team who are in the champions league for struggling Spurs. They must be paying him a lot. £3.5m a year Smart decision by him, he has taken Seville as far as he can, they don't have the financial muscle to compete with Real and Barca
October 26, 200717 yr I think Levy has proven himself during his tenure to be incompetant. Look at the shambles of Graham to Hoddle to Santini to Jol and don't forget the Arneson to Chelsea and Spurs have the influence of Mnr Comolli in the background. Have a look at what Levy achieved at Rangers...not much. The problem is that the Spurs board has high expectations of the club that is way above the reality. Spurs sees itself as a "top four" club when in reality it is at best an UEFA cup club / at worst mid-table club. Spurs should have taken a lesson from Everton a couple seasons ago, when David Moyes' side was struggling at the wrong end of the table following their CL qualifications. The board stuck with DM, and look where they are at today. If the Toffees board had an unrealistic expectation, chances are DM would now be managing somewhere else. I think it's unfair that Jol is pasted for the signings this summer. The Sporting Director is responsible for signings in the two-tier system Spurs have set up so Comolli, not Jol should be held responsible for the money spent (£16m on Bent = the worst signing of the summer by far! Also it was the board that got sold Carrick last season & wrecked Spurs chances of a Top 4 finish (when Arsenal had such a poor season). Attack Jol's tactics perhaps but you can't attack 'his' signings as he didn't make them! It is true that Martin Jol may have brought some of this on himself, but it would seem to me that the greater part of the blame for what is happening lies squarely with the Spurs board. I have always admired Tottenham Hotspur, but their disgraceful treatment of an outstanding manager makes me wish that Levy & the Board get what they richly deserve this season = relegation. (Mind you the last time I thought a Premiership manager had been so harshly treated was with Ranieri, at Chelsea!)
October 26, 200717 yr I fully agree with the above post. For the past two seasons Spurs have been about my favourite Premiership team. However, if the current bottom 3 all got releagted I couldn't care less. Levy is a prize tit.

(Mind you the last time I thought a Premiership manager had been so harshly treated was with Ranieri, at Chelsea!) Jol had to go, plain and simple, several reasons 1) Training - He is responsible for training and some of the things that went on in training were shocking, Robbo was allowed to train on his own away from the rest of the team - WHY ? the guy is the goalie ffs how can the team practice defending set pieces and corners and so on when their goalie is not taking part in this training ? the fact we are so weak on crosses and set pieces particularly Robbo is down to training and a lot of that is down to Jol, he is the boss at training he should say "Robbo f*** off you are training with us or you are not getting paid" 2) Training (2) - Spurs train the least out of any premiership team, when Ghaly went to Birmingham he was shocked that they had to train TWICE a day, at Spurs they trained in the morning and that was it, is it any wonder we concede so many bloody late goals with Jol not training the players hard enough ? he should have had them training twice a day building up stamina, again down to JOL 3) Tactics - Jol was a joke tactically, played so many players out of position, Lennon on the left (he is a right winger) played Tiaino on the left at times (he is a central midfielder) played Jenas on the right and Ghaly and Malbranque (again central midfielders), taking off a STRIKER when 3-1 DOWN against Newcastle with 20 mins to go and bought on a defensive midfielder, his playing of players out of position was like something out of the Keystone Cops 4) Recruiting and retaining talent - In order to attract top players and RETAIN the likes of Berbatov and Lennon we need to be at the sharp end of the table, top players will not come to us in a relegation dogfight Jol is a nice guy but he is tactically inept and is as useful on the training ground as a sticking plaster is in the event of a burst artery He had to go As for Bent give the guy a chance :manson: he has started 5 games and scored 3 goals, he has come on for 5 or 10 mins off the bench in the other games so can't be expected to do much in the quick runouts he has had

As for your three points: 1. If a goalie was not training on his own for a significant period of the week, then there would be something wrong. Jol's biggest mistake was not dropping an out of form, out of confidence goalkeeper. I can certainly think of a worse manager who has made the same mistake. 2. You probably have a valid point there. However, a significant factor is the level of injuries that Spurs have had this season. Also, injuries are most likely to occur if players are tired from playing virtually every midweek & weekend, week in week out, so why take the risk of even further injuries. 3. If Spurs did not have so many injuries he would not have to mess about with ehere his players available played. Just take the defence: So far this season Bale was out for the first month of the season; Kaboul was out injured for 3 weeks from mid-August; Gardner has been out injured since the end of August; Rocha has been injured at the end of September & is not expected back to December; Dawson was injured very early in pre-season, did not return until September when he was rushed back due to the injury crisis and is clearly struggling to pick up the pace & his confidence; Assou-Ekotto Has been out with a knee injury; and skipper Ledley King got injured pre-season and is not expected back until mid November. 4. If Arsenal, Manchester Utd, Liverpool or Chelsea had that equivalent Defensive injury crisis then they too would be currently in the bottom half of the Premiership. For example: Just look at Liverpool right now - They started the season great, but then their defenders Agger, Carragher (who is now playing, when he clearly is not fit), Aurelio & Arbeloa got injured within the space of two weeks (along with Alonso & Gerrard playing impeded with a broken toe) and they are now struggling to win matches they would have won at a canter 6 weeks ago. Maybe if the board did not so brazenly & arrogantly court Ramos at Sevilla when Jol was doing such a great job last season, then the players might have played more for him. As for the squad he had to work with, Martin Jol had no more say on the purchases than what José Mourinho had over who Roman Abramovich bought at Chelski and we know what happened in the end there. Is it little wonder Martin Jol had trouble motivating the players, when his authority had been undermined by the inept Tottenham Hotspur board. Well according to Radio 5Live this evening, it already looks like AFC Ajax from Amsterdam disagree with you. I wish Martin Jol great success at the club, seeing as they are already out of Europe (they failed to even reach the group stage of the UEFA cup) wouldn't it be funny if this time next year he is managing them in the Champions League Group stage, whilst if there is any justice Daniel Levy will be chairman of a Championship League side.
October 26, 200717 yr So two of last season's top 5 have already got rid of their manager. If Liverpool fail to qualify for the knock-out stage of the Champions League will Benitez be a third victim?
October 26, 200717 yr Author So two of last season's top 5 have already got rid of their manager. If Liverpool fail to qualify for the knock-out stage of the Champions League will Benitez be a third victim? I wouldn't have thought so. If Liverpool have a poor season though, Benitez will be sacked, they've spent too much money this season to be content with just finishing 4th.
October 27, 200717 yr I can't see Ramos doing much better, going from a top 4 Spanish club to a knocking on the door of the top 4 club.
October 27, 200717 yr I can't see Ramos doing much better, going from a top 4 Spanish club to a knocking on the door of the top 4 club. Time will tell Matt but this is a guy that has won 2 UEFA Cups, a world club championship, a couple of domestic cups, nearly won La Liga with a squad built up on less money than Real or Barca would pay for a squad player and in his tenure has beaten Real and Barca between them 7 times, he is hugely respected in Spain and was also the bookies favourite for the Chelsea job, he knows his onions My concern is his lack of English, it is said to be very poor but he has Gus Poyet to handle the English side of things When Ramos met Levy, Kemsley and co he produced a 32 page blueprint on how he would change things at Spurs and the board were so impressed since then he has been able to name his own price Ramos truly is a world class manager, that does not mean he will succeed at Spurs, only time will tell but this guy is a true pro
October 28, 200717 yr They're paying 30.000.000 € to Sevilla You do talk some complete bollocks don't you? They're reporting Spurs for 'tapping up' and are asking for £3.3m compensation, which I'm guessing is the equivelent of €5m.
