I don't think the two can be compared to be honest.

Both are different genres of music for a start. Crazy has already outsold You're Beautiful after 7 weeks at number 1, but like a previous poster has said You're Beautiful was a slow burner, climbing up the chart to number 1.

Singles are also an advertisement for an artist to sell albums. James Blunt's Back to Bedlam spent something like 10 weeks at the top of the album chart in the UK, has done more than 2.5m in the UK and is currently going to easily sell over 10m worldwide. The huge success of Back to Bedlam has come directly from the initial release of You're Beautiful. Gnarls Barkley has done just 1 week at no1 in the UK and it will be nowhere near the success of You're Beautiful in terms of appeal for the album.

But the Gnarls album ain´t doing bad at all, it sold almost 100k on first week, which means they´re not novelty act (because novelty acts never sell albums)... The sucess of the album from now on will depend on the following singles...

I despise both :puke:

But I agree with the majority it's good to have a single doing so well for once that isnt for charity etc.

I never said Gnarls Barkley was a novelty act. In fact I prefer that track to You're Beautiful and it has outsold it already.

The album did sell 91000 at number 1 but has quickly dropped from that position It may hang around for a while or fall and then climb when another track is released, but it will not come close to You're Beautiful for promotion of the album, neither will it sell anywhere near to 2.5-3m in the UK. I'd be surprised if it sold more than 750k.

Gnarls Barkley - Crazy will be remembered for being the 1st number 1 on downloads alone. However sickly sweet You're Beautiful is or how cheap and poor the video is (same with Crazy), You're Beautiful will be played at most weddings for years to come.

Do people play pop songs in weddings in UK???

Cause, 'Your Beautiful' is strong compotition for first dance favourite 'Wind Beneth My Wings'!

or 'Heart Will Go On' :puke2: :puke2:

no.... crazy is good! lol, blunty is .... yawn.....

I agree.

People like it so they've bought it ;) You get songs doing what this song has done often so it can only be a good thing.

I agree with that.

The difference for me is that I love "Crazy" (and I haven't heard it too often yet as I don't listen to the radio), but I don't love "You're Beautiful" (it's just okay).

I'm looking forward to the next single from Gnarls Barkley, though, I've heard it's even better!
