Posted November 4, 200717 yr Lily Allen Cannot B!tch In the whirlwind of media interest that followed her success (Lily was one of the first artists to use MySpace to promote her music) she always seemed to be courting controversy, either by her verbal attacks on everyone from President Bush to Cheryl Cole (with whom she engaged in a slanging match nicknamed 'Cherylgate'), her wild-girl ways (drinking, smoking and alluding to drug-taking) or her candid confessions on her blog (a tearful admission, for example, that she had found herself looking up gastric bypass surgery on the internet). But today the 22-year-old singer is calm – almost serene, in fact, if it weren't for the sudden dramatic outbursts of raucous laughter – and so very, very happy that she can't think of one bad thing in the world. "I find that as I am happier and happier I can't bring myself to b**ch any more. I have noticed recently that I find myself jumping to people's defence - I saw Paris Hilton on the David Letterman show and I was like, 'Why is he being so horrible to her?' "And I can't think what 'Cherylgate' was about – what a waste of time. Cheryl Cole? Who is she? Just someone from a manufactured band, whereas I write and perform my own music. Things are fine between me and Peaches Geldof now too; I feel sorry for Peaches, she is a poor little rich girl. "I've gone completely the other way and I think it must be because I am just so happy and confident in myself," she says, running a hand unconsciously across her toned stomach as she orders a takeaway lunch from nearby Nobu (a selection of sushi "minus the rice"). It is tempting to think that one of the factors behind this new laid-back Lily is weight loss (she is noticeably more slender, and has reportedly visited a Harley Street hypnotist to help her slim). Could it be that she has given in to exactly the sort of pressure to be thin that she used to rail against? When asked if the working out and no-rice sushi is about dropping the pounds, she trots out the line (not entirely convincing) that she is just keen to "be healthy". But is food an issue? "Food used to be an issue in that I overate for comfort.
November 4, 200717 yr She's still managing to be a b**ch though isn't she? "And I can't think what 'Cherylgate' was about – what a waste of time. Cheryl Cole? Who is she?
