November 11, 200717 yr Personally, I can't believe that anyone with a brain wouldn't see that BOTH the Arctic Monkeys and Leona Lewis are highly talented artists. They may be different styles of music but they're both clearly very, very good at what they do. Coouldnt agree more, i like both artists because they are very talented.
November 12, 200717 yr Yeah, the Arctic's are great! Saying that, so is Leona. I am really starting to like her alot!
November 12, 200717 yr Well in that case nearly all the music critics are wrong because you must be right. As for Leona Lewis, I bought a downloaded copy of her current single because it is a really good song. However, it is clear that your ears are closed to other types of music. I don't like Britney Spears but I bought her album because it is really good. Whilst I really like Kylie (I've bought her previous 5 studio albums) but her new single is very poor. As for people being able to make up there own minds then how come the X Factor winner always has the Christmas #1 irrespective of its poor quality (i.e. like the inferior cover of a Kelly Clarkson song last Xmas)? How come the X Factor winner sells huge quantities in the first week, then fails to sell more than the first week sales for following six months until it is discounted to a Woolworths bargain bin to £3. How come runners up from the X-Factor competition release awful albums full of covers which sell loads around Mother's Day then rapidly sink down the chart, so they end up being dropped by Syco record label? Answer: Because Simon says so! A hell of a lot of people are sheep otherwise they would not sell. If it was all about music quality then Westlife would have stopped selling years ago, but because they continue to be raved over by (their manager) Louis Walsh & (their Record Company Head) Simon Cowell then they sell ridiculous amounts of albums in the run in to Xmas (when a certain TV talent show is on) only to sink like a stone soon afterwards. Fantastic, totally agree with you. One more thing, did Leona write 'bleeding love' herself or did she tell someone else to write and sing it for her anfd then she just copied it (most reality show stars do that)? If she did then she shouldn't even be mentioned in the same league as Arctic monkeys (btw I'm no fan of them but I respect them)
November 12, 200717 yr oh dear.....Arctics are my favourite band and leona is like me fave female solo singer at the moment -_- so i ant going to argue for or agaisnt either ^_^
November 12, 200717 yr Right people I have listened to Leona's album all day and must say I am rather disappointed, infact it's not the best debut album I have ever heard and wouldn't be in my top 100 of all time. Yes she has a huge voice I'm not disputing her talent for one second but the only and best song by a million light years if Bleeding Love. All the rest are middle of the road samey ballad songs sounds like shes singing the same song but just to a different beat. very disappointed considering the promotional adverts on tv claiming it to be the debut album we've all been waiting for, well I'll keep waiting for a top of the range debut album. If you want debut albums then listen to Beyonce, Amy Winehouse, Lucie Silvas, Justin Timberlake. I'm just glad I didn't waste my money on it because it's not worth the hype and am really surprised its going to sell 350,000 in a week because I don't think it deserves 35,000 in it's first week.
November 12, 200717 yr I love the album :magic: It took me about 3 or 4 listens, but then I really started loving the songs, and each one is special in it's own way <333
November 12, 200717 yr each one sounds the same, just can't believe shes brought out such a standard boring album theres no standout tracks and future huge hits. if any other artist with the same talent brought out this sub standard album it would bomb, its only cos xfactor shes around i'd wish they'd scrap xfactor and stop ruining the christmas number one race

As Take That would say, "just have a little patieeeennnceeeeeee".
November 12, 200717 yr i am so happy with this album i bought it today and it is probably my fave album of the year along with Arctic Monkeys of course! not a bad track on it
November 12, 200717 yr Spirit is definitely a grower for me. I was a bit underwhelmed the first time I listened to it - I only really liked about 5 songs. By the third listen I was in love with every single one. The more you listen is the more you appreciate the different nuances and qualities of each track. So I would personally advise people not to be so quick in judging it. Edited November 12, 200717 yr by Ravane

November 12, 200717 yr What and listening to it all day isn't enough to grow on you??????? In my opinion its c**p and overhyped
November 12, 200717 yr 'Take A Bow' is standout :o And so is 'I Will Be' -_- But I know what you mean, I was disappointed after first listen. As Take That would say, "just have a little patieeeennnceeeeeee". heard Take A Bow the other night on Radio 2  and as for I Will Be I'm an Avril nut so I prefer hers to be honest :P But I can't wait for Mr Postie to drop the album through my letter box sooooon :w00t:

November 12, 200717 yr What and listening to it all day isn't enough to grow on you??????? In my opinion its c**p and overhyped I spent 10/15 minutes at a listening booth in HMV today. I decided a set of sub standard Mariah Carey mid-tempo ballads was not worth buying. Bleeding Love seems to be head and shoulders better than anything else off the album. I have heard both "Take A Bow" & "I Will Be" played on Radio 2 and I thought they were nothing more than "Mariah Houston" by numbers, and to be honest it reminds me of the technically excellent but ultimately very dull debut album from the former lead singer of Take That (Gary Barlow's 1997 album Open Road) and we all know what happened to the man hailed by BMG's then Head of A&R (Simon Cowell) as the new George Michael.
November 12, 200717 yr Downloaded Leona's album and found it very average indeed, 2 good tracks, 2 reasonable ones and others at best B side cannon fodder. Compared with for instance Whitney Houston's debut album or Tracy Chapman's or Anita Baker's etc etc it was very average, if after 9 months in LA working with the best producers this is the best she can come up with then she will be fading into obscurity inside 1-2 years
November 12, 200717 yr In my opinion you have a foul attitude. Whoops, did I say that out loud? At least he's honest. I've heard it several times today as my daughter bought it. Boring and expected much better.

Whitney's debut album was far far better than Leona's is.

Yawn! Yawn! Yawn! Was wondering when you were going to do that. Bringing Gary Barlow into it when you've got nothing more interesting to say. I for one am glad Gary Barlow wasn't the next George (up his own jacksie) Michael. He may not be the better selling artist but he's a damned sight more interesting to listen to in an interview. At least he ain't self-pitying - and an artist 'suffering for his art' - but some people seem to like that kind of 'act'. Rant over! Back to the topic! Norma
