Quite soon – within 50 years or so – the only people left in Britain will be cut-price Polish plumbers, angry suicide bombers from the dusty Maghreb and obese, flatulent, drunken, educationally subnormal indigenous chavs who haven’t yet worked out the quickest route to the ferry terminal. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the number of British people leaving the country last year was a remarkable 400,000 – that’s a city the size of Sheffield. And more than half of those were reasonably well-off, tax-paying, palpably sentient human beings.

 

Even more people came in, of course – 591,000 according to the ramshackle guesswork of the ONS. But they weren’t quite the same, economically and socially, as those who got the hell out. They were – now, what’s the nicest way of putting this? – differently-abled.

 

We are repeatedly told that we should welcome our incomers because they will enhance the wealth of the country: we need them to do the jobs that British people won’t do because they’re too idle or too greedy. But then a recent study from the Social Affairs Unit suggested that for an immigrant to add to the wealth of the country he should be carrying £144,000 with him, otherwise the rest of us will be left less well-off.

 

Call me a curmudgeon, but I’m not convinced that every single member of the present influx brings in that amount. Meanwhile, high-earning, productive Brits continue to leave in ever increasing numbers for Spain, Australia, the United States and so on. One reason is simply that these days they can leave – British property prices being so ludicrously high that you can buy a mansion in Tallahassee for your two-bed flat with small patio of fox-poo in Stockwell, south London.

 

Why would you stay in Britain, given our weather, our congested cities, our rotten schools, the eerie, robotic presence of David Miliband on Question Time, speed cameras, stealth taxes, Tesco, Roman Abramovich and Jonathan Ross? Surely any sensible person would leave. You head for Heathrow and, having been subjected to three hours of misery, are finally allowed to board the plane and you’re free.

 

All of that might provoke a person to emigrate. But if you look at the graph, handily provided by the ONS, there is a direct link between those leaving and those coming in. The pattern of immigration into Britain over the years mirrors almost exactly the pattern of migration out. So much so that you might suppose there is a causal link between the two; we’re getting out because of all those people coming in. Everybody tells us that immigration is good for the country. The only people, it would seem, who are not quite sure about this are the general public.

Immigration is fine when it's controlled but if people feel they are being outnumbered they do what nature intended.

It's either fight ( all that will do is get you in jail) or flight. Obviously people are opting for the more civilized latter.

How can they moan about immigrants in their own country while at the same time become an immigrant in another ? because they are becoming immigrants themselves if they leave the country so they have no right to moan about other people doing what they themselves are doing

If they weren't the ones to migrate first to somewhere else and are leaving as a reaction to it, then how can they be hypocrites?

People only flee from home countries when it is over run with people of conflicting cultures.

The old melting pot theory is nice in Utopia but rarely works in real life unfortunately.

I'd love to see millions of europeans, australians, americans etc all of a sudden want to migrate to say , the middle east and not have any of the

natives say one word about it and just accept it.

If they felt they couldn't do anything about it , then they'd leave too.

...For a start, I really dont think you Australians are in any moral position to p*** and moan about "bloody immigrants" in the first place, your whole society was basically founded upon the fact that many of your ancestors were criminals kicked out of the UK and sent on prison ships to Botany Bay, and later on loads of other immigrants mainly from Ireland went out voluntarily.... And then there's the "small" matter of the genocide/mass murder of the aborigines whose land and resources you stole and whom your ancestors tried to forcibly mate/intermarry with white landowners in order to wipe out the entire aborigine bloodline.... Who the hell says that Australia, the US and New Zealand should be a white, western, christian dominated society anyway...? You're all descended from immigrants and criminals yourselves, you are NOT the indigenous population (you killed most of them...), so basically your Govt has a downer on other immigrants wanting to come in and get a slice of the pie you nicked off of other people in the first place..... Naomi i agree with you on what you said but its kinda worrying on what your ancestors did once they got there.

 

Anyway its a lot different in rural areas. (dunno who posted what area they lived) A majority when you compare urban/rural British populations went into the "countryside", so its even more on a large scale when you take away where the Eastern Europeans who don't go.

 

Im not actually too worried about it but i actually have neighbours that aren't Polish (although you wouldn't actually consider them neighbours when the nearest farms are all (3) 3/4 mile away). Road signs are sometimes in Polish and now emergency services can be found in Polish. A lot of the Poles though are learning more and more English every day, and as long as they don't stick together in clans and outnumber us then they will hopefully for Britain become practically British

Not saying that it wasn't injust what happened to people sent out in "transportation" ships, but you cant just deny the facts that once your lot got out there you set about committing acts of genocide on the natives, and I dont hear a whole hell of a lot of apologies for what continues to be done to the aborigines - ie to completely marginalise and keep them apart from Australian society, in much the same way as the Yanks dumped the native american tribes onto "reservations" and left them pretty much to rot.... Your Govt's treatment of the aborigines continues to disgust me and your policy on immigration is another area that I find completely unreasonable also....

The reason we need immigrants is that we have an ageing population, and we need immigrants to fill job gap's in the job Market. Without immigrants we would have a declining birth rate, which would mean less people paying taxes threw work and more people dependent on the state, which more mean even HIGHER taxes. So immigrant's are essentially keeping this country ticking by doing the jobs we dont want to do, yet people just believe the rubbish written in the Daily Mail :rolleyes:

That's pretty much spot on... I find it utterly bizarre that all these morons who object to the country being "overrun by immigrants" and are leaving the country just have no concept of irony whatsoever... "We dont like immigrants......So we'll move to another country to avoid them...." :lol: :lol: :lol: Thus becoming immigrants themselves.... Gawd, some people eh.....?

 

But it's really so typical of white, European arrogance, we have this presumption that the world is our oyster, but it's not the case for others whose skin colour is of a different pigmentation..... <_< Call it a throwback to Colonial arrogance, WE can do what WE want in the world, but no one else is allowed....
