Posted November 20, 200717 yr Britain is the shoplifting capital of Europe, figures revealed last night. More than £1.6 billion worth of products a year are stolen by customers and £1.4 billion worth are nabbed by staff. Alcohol is the most nicked item, followed by razor blades, CD’s and DVD’s, sweets and perfumes, the Global Retail Theft Barometer claims. Only the USA and Japan have a worse record. I wonder why it is worse in 3 of the richest nations on earth, you would think it would be worse in poorer countries.
November 21, 200717 yr i think its because we are richer countries, not everyone here has wealth and the poorer people often see it as an easy way of 'keeping up' with the rest.. plus our chav culture, and the polish buggers! :P lol.
November 21, 200717 yr Penalties are too soft for shoplifting If a chav or whatever knows they will automatically go to prison if they shoplift then they are less likely to do it, in most cases it results in a caution which is ridiculous, shoplifting is stealing off each and every one of us as shops have to raise prices to counter the loss of revenue from these scum so instead of cautions it is time for an automatic prison sentence of 1 year for smaller items to 5 years for more valuable items Someone knows they are going to jail if they get caught is less likely to chance it
November 21, 200717 yr Even in that case it's pretty harsh though Craig...I mean would it really be viable to put people in jail for a year for stealing a chocolate bar or something? Especially considering how overcrowded our prisons are...perhaps fines might be the way forward?

Fines are paid at about 50p a week mate if the person is poor, the money either gets written off in the end, the person declares themselves bankrupt or they spend 10 years paying at 50p a week, waste of time Then build more prisons ^_^ Yes I would have prison for a chocolate bar Tyron 1) Thats how petty thieves start, chocolate bars lead to bigger more valuable things 2) It fuels inflation as prices of everything get put up Theft is theft to me it don't matter if it is a Milky Bar or a Rembrandt work of art Edited November 21, 200717 yr by Vic Vega

November 21, 200717 yr I have one response: chavs. And don't bother arguing because you know it's true :) Edited November 21, 200717 yr by JBM
November 21, 200717 yr we half-inch the odd chip at work, but then again when u work with food all day and bast*rd customers its understandable
November 21, 200717 yr I have one response: chavs. And don't bother arguing because you know it's true :) 1. Prove it. 2. Nearly as much is stolen by the staff and, presumably, they aren't chavs by your bigoted standards (smiley notwithstanding) because they've got jobs!
November 22, 200717 yr Yes I would have prison for a chocolate bar Tyron How very 1800s of you Craig..... -_- Let's transport the buggers to Australia while we're at it, eh....?
November 22, 200717 yr I have one response: chavs. That's not actually true.. The amount of "white collar" petty theft is as bad as shoplifting... Office employees think nothing of stealing pens, stationery, paper, etc from work..
