Posted November 23, 200717 yr What do Peeps think of Christmas singles that never reached their potential? 2 of my fave's are: Kate Bush "December Will Be Magic Again" which only made No.29 in 1980 and Elton John "Step Into Christmas" which only managed No.24 in 1974. I think both tracks should have easily made Top 10. Both Elton and Kate were at their peak at their respective times! What do you think?..You can catch the vids on Youtube. :yahoo:
November 23, 200717 yr Step Into Christmas is a fantastic song. Though its not one of Elton's best songs overall in my opinion. I don't think i've heard the Kate Bush song though
November 23, 200717 yr Author westlife/diana ross - when you tell me that you love me I think it reached No.2 so wasn't too bad! Take it you're not a fan of Nizlopi's JCB Song? <_<

November 23, 200717 yr the song was something different but not something great. It got that promotion to stop Westlife. Everyone knows it.

November 23, 200717 yr Author Sugababes' "New year" #12 in 2000 Wow, I'd forgotten that one!! The sugas original line-up!
November 23, 200717 yr Girls Aloud's Christmastry album (the 2nd disc on the Chemistry album) is underrated i reckon. They could have had a hit christmas single with songs like Not Tonight Santa and I Wanna Kiss You So (Christmas in a Nutshell)
November 23, 200717 yr I love the Sugababes 'New Year' got it on my i-pod and it still gets played on radio 1 at christmas it is about 6 years old? Mariah Carey I'm surprised wasn't a number 1 song and bigger

Sometimes a group or artist of the time can release a Christmas single and get away with it and sometimes it doesn't take off. Never heard the GA tracks... I reckon they could make it work! :cheer:

November 23, 200717 yr All I Want For Christmas really should have been #1. Its a proper christmas single along with Slade and Wizard
