Three names are currently being thrown around as Bhangra's next participant for the BJSC. Europop singer Kate Ryan, star of 'Jerry Springer: The Opera' Alison Jiear and Icelandic beauty Yohanna are the latest names to be circulating Bhangrese media, as the country aims to return to the final, and ultimately the top half of the table. A representative for Bhangra's delegation had this to say: "It's been a fair few months since we managed to make much of an impact on the scoreboard, with relatively low placings for Jade Ewen, Wynter Gordon and Boney M and Hadise even failing to qualify. We're going to be trying our hardest in July's competition to be working our way back to the top!"

An announcement is set to be made within the next few days on who Bhangra's representative will be. Local bookmakers currently have Yohanna at 5/2, Kate Ryan at 4/1, Alison Jiear at 9/1 and any other at 6/1.

Yohanna Confirmed for BJSC VIII

It has been confirmed that Icelandic ex-Eurovision star Yohanna will be Bhangra's 16th representative singing I Miss You in July. She follows fellow Eurovision related stars Dima Bilan, Velvet, Kate Ryan, the Revelations, Hadise and Jade Ewen to represent Bhangra. The country has not reached the top ten, or even the top 20, since Velvet finished in fifth position with 'Fix Me' in August 2008.

As a side note, f***ing hell I didn't realise my results had gone THAT badly! That's shocking!

BHANGRA BREAKING NEWS

After a string of bad press reports, Yohanna has announced she is stepping down as Bhangra's participant in the 19th BJSC. The Icelandic star's song has been dubbed "bland" and "forgettable" in the Bhangran press, with some Bhangran bookmakers placing her as low as 66/1 to bring the BJSC back to Bhangra. "There's no point in me entering with such little support," Yohanna said in a press conference. "Maybe I'll be back in a few months, but who knows."

The Bhangra Delegation is expected to make an announcement on Yohanna's replacement within the next few hours, with several names circulating today's press.

Yohanna is a sure fire 12 from me.

I Miss You is sensational and very  Her album is fantastic, one of the best of the year for me

on a side note, what a fabby video

Mehhh I've gone off it substantially tbh. It's not a bad song, but I just don't think it really goes anywhere much, and can't see it doing particularly well in this. :(

Having said that, I'm actually struggling to find a suitable replacement, so I'm not going to unreserve Yohanna just yet!

YOHANNA IN DRAMATIC U-TURN

After several of Bhangra's other options failed to reach an agreement with the Bhangran Delegation, Yohanna once again put her name forward with ballad I Miss You. "I'm going to go out there and try to prove myself once and for all," she said to reporters earlier today. "I believe I can give it a decent shot, and the competition rarely has soaring ballads doing particularly well, so it'll be interesting to see how I do."

Basically, I couldn't find a suitable replacement and the Yohanna song is actually re-growing on me again.

Yohanna's 13th placing is my highest since August 2008. :o

Yeah, I was beginning to think it'd bomb tbh! It's a really good song though, and I'm glad I finished in the top half at least!

Yohanna is far too hot and talented to bomb.

Maybe i should have entered Funnything Is after all

You still did reasonably well though with Delta didn't you? I was only half following the results last night and haven't had time yet to digest who did well and who didn't!

18th. it's not my worst result far better than last months DNQ, but it could have been better.

Meh, i was taking a risk with Delta and it only half paid off.

I really like I Miss You but not *quite* enough to give it points, I found her album quite samey to be honest with only Worryfish, Walking On Water and I Miss You really standing out for me

I've not heard the album, though I listened to a couple of songs on her Myspace and didn't think much to them really. Bit of a one trick pony it would seem. :P

A whole host of names have been thrown into the ring as Bhangra prepares to select its next participant for the BJSC. After Jade Ewen was immediately snapped up by hosts Numaynia, the delegation were forced to rethink, and now Agnes Carlsson, Velvet - who have both appeared at the BJSC twice before - and Stephanie Spencer have been chosen as possible candidates.
