there will be no majority though...it will be a fairly even split as it always is based on people's opinions, and everyone who's not happy with the decision will argue with everyone who is happy with it and it will cause yet another ridiculous argument...

I've wasted far too much of my time arguing on here in the past two months

that's also true. that's why I think that if you still think it's the way this contest should go on, you should stay and try to even improve it in that way ;)

I don't get why we can't just keep the rules how they've ALWAYS been and everyone will be happy. I don't think "this song is my favourite song this month, can we change the rules that have been in place all this time to accomadate this?" washes with me. Perhaps I should have kicked up a bigger fuss when it was first changed to SOME NF songs being allowed and this could have been avoided.

The fact that one moderator has left the contest because of this change and another is leaving because he feels he has upset the moderator (and others) with this change is proof enough that it wasn't a wise choice. Erase the change, fix the problem?

I hope Rich realises that my disagreements with this rule change isn't some sort of personal attack. I don't like him any less because of it, it's just a debate, a conflict of opinions.

because everyone last month was so obsessed that we should all be able to send our favourite songs, cheap or not, yet the Eurovision fans amongst us were never getting the chance to do so...it certainly wasn't a level playing field...it never affected me at any other time during the year but honestly between March-June I literally listen to nothing but Eurovision and National Final songs, and it always feels like second best with what I send in these months. Pixie isn't even top 15 in my chart (as much as I love the song)...I'd much rather send some MF entry that I love but with so much friction everywhere, I just don't want to.

and honestly Aaron, I know that it's not a personal attack ^_^ and we are obviously all entitled to our personal opinions, it just seems that mine are never the opinions of anybody else (apart from Trashlexis, The Fear and Pavel :heehee:). I'm honestly not just leaving because of this, I've been putting my foot in it all over the place recently and to read comments like 'what an awful rush decision, it's left us with a really $hit spin-off' is not something that I enjoyed. The cheap debate thing, the #10's thing, this Melodifestivalen thing and god knows what else we might all argue about in the future...it's just not something I want to be involved with anymore, and this is no reflection on anybody else, and I certainly don't like anyone less because of it :o I just don't need the arguments in a place that I come to relax after a day of arguing with staff and managers at work

Believe it or not but 2 days ago or so I caught myself on a thought that I'm getting TOO obsessed over BJSC. And it is actually! It'll be better if i withdraw from the couple of contests now to see how it'll continue then.

But it's been said from the off that anything Eurovision related cannot be sent and this contest has been through March-June before and you sent some of your most popular entries in those months. (Smack Me! and Mine All Mine spring to mind) I guess it's harder to understand as someone who barely follows the NFs but you sent your signature entries around Eurovision in the past, it is possible1 :(

I don't really blame you for the #10s spin-off, you were the only moderator on at the time and a couple of people with no patience pressured you into making the decision quickly. Again, you weren't the person who came off worst in the cheap debate either!

I guess us trying to change your mind isn't working but I feel you will regret this later. :(

I might consider coming back in the future, but not as a mod and I certainly won't get so involved, caring about records and points and DNQ's and whatnot...like Pavel said, I was just getting far TOO obsessed with it all

and I wasn't half as obsessed with Melodifestivalen last year as I am this year :heehee: and I didn't even follow Norway's Melodi Grand Prix last year, but only started to because of Maria :o

I know it's Trash that keeps coming off the worst in all these debates and not me, but that's not the point really...I don't want to debate things like this. I used to leave a comment giving my opinion and that's that, but now I'm giving full length scripts about absolutely nothing and I really don't know why  I was getting far too passionate and I need to distance myself from it and then come back at another time, it could even be in XVI if I feel less busy/stressed out.

Beofre 2008 I didn't even have an opportunity to hear the songs of ESC before the actual contest. Now i know all of them 2 months before. I didn't follow whether NMGP or MF last year. But got obsessed over it REALLY this year. I think it's too much for ESC+BJSC obsession for me. I need to loose one. And no doubt it's BJSC

rejoin with me Pavel, but let's just try not to get involved in debates, it's better for us both

Of course I will! I kind of stated it in 3 threads :heehee: EOP (Eurovision obsession peak) is about a month away for me so ... :kink:

I should state that obviously I'd love Addy and Boyan to come back too, but if they haven't got the time to devote to it then that's fair enough

I should be able to find enough time just to listen to the songs I think...

Would anybody back the institution of a rule which would prevent speculation over entries for the next contest until at least the Wednesday of the final week of each contest? We've had complaints in the past about this, but it's definitely become much more of an issue lately...

Yes! I know it's kinda brattish but, when hosting, I kinda feel like people aren't interested in the current contest when they start revealing their next entry during the semi finals etc.

although I agree with you both (it is far far too soon, I never know my next entry until halfway through the confirmation of that contest ), I don't think you can stop people thinking aloud about their future entries, but I certainly find it annoying so if you could find some non dictatorial seeming way of implementing it, I'm all for it :heehee:
How about creating a special thread for potential entries, and anything regarding this posted elsewhere will be deleted? I know what you're saying, but I don't think there's a real advantage in banning this outright...

I know what you mean. It's not like people shouldn't be planning ahead during the ongoing contest but I've never seen the point of saying "I'm sending THIS next time" while people are still voting in the current contest - during the semis or finals. It just seems courteous to keep schtum until the contest over. We have enough songs to take in during the voting for the semis and the final without having 'potential' entries for the next contest being posted everywhere.

Maybe this is something to do with the contests becoming CONSTANT these days, people feel the need to get their hands on a song as early as possible. The reservation/confirmation threads are opened minutes after the results of the previous contest have been revealed. It's nothing that can be fixed, we need the reservation threads up early as it would be unfathomable for us to expect things like National Finals/revelations of potential entries to happen without people stepping on each others toes now that we have 50 entries a month.

I tend to know what i want to send about a month in advance, it isn't usually posted outside my thread and even then until final week. This time being the exception with 2nd in the NF getting confirmed for XVII.

I don't think we can do much to stop it per say, more like ban where the discussion happens.

XVII entries in the XVI prediction thread is a fo' sho' no no.
