I wonder if everyone who voted for Fix Me and Take My Body Close would boycott Deja Vu and The Queen :o

Exactly...especially as Take My Body Close is nothing less than the love child of Star Pilots and Velvet!

I think that's my main issue. I feel these MF/Eurovision related songs will get automatic 12s/points from some people, simply because of what they are.

Again, I'll wait and see though. You never know. The 'cheap' songs from the last contest ended up at the bottom. Same thing could happen here.

Well, I love Snalla Snalla et al, but it definitely wouldn't get an automatic 12 - it would likely get points, but there's so much great stuff in the contest already - Pixie, Royksopp/Robyn - all it does is increase the quality IMO :o

Precisely, this time (and presumably when the NF songs were first allowed) Boyan seems to have been left out of the decision just because he skipped a contest or two and doesn't spend as long in here as the other two moderators when, I believe, it was him who introduced the contest to Buzzjack. He would have been outnumbered by Rich and Tyron with his view, but he didn't get chance to express it before Cyndi and Charlotte had been confirmed.

I do love Rich and Tyron, but they can get a little carried away sometimes. (admittedly it's not JUST them, other members have been instrumental to the rush decisions being made in the past)

In all honesty, seeing as there wasn't a massive backlash against all the others being unbanned, I failed to see what the big controversy would be over removing the final three :P

And for the record, I was a tad annoyed at how quickly the spin-off was decided

agreed, I don't value Eurovision songs anymore or less so than regular songs and all my voting will be fair

well, so far all 4 entries are so not unknown??? MF songs are no discussion and theres no excuse saying that are unkown...if u go in the ESC forum, MF is more hyped then eurovision.

That's ridiculous! There's no way that you can claim MF is more hyped than the actual contest itself - and at the very most, only an eighth of those who take part actually follow MF, so I fail to see how it isn't any more unknown than what many others send - it's rare to find an entry in this contest that NOBODY had heard before confirmation!

the spin-off thing was my fault and James', I hold my hands up to that and said that it won't happen again, and I will play no part in the orchestration of deciding the next spin-off for fear of ruining it

as for your first point, did that one slip under the radar a bit when you changed that rule, as the only person I saw that had any opposition to it was Peter, I don't recall Boyan even commenting on it and it was surely just as controversial

I did say rare, not impossible :P Smack Me was actually the one I had been thinking of that was an obvious exception :heehee:

Indeed, the only controversy that seemed to come (REALLY ironically) of that rule change was that it didn't unban them all! And now that they've all been unbanned...

Well, you can't please everyone! -_-

well it's possible that Music Week subscribers would have heard it but I wonder how many people actually sit there and listen to the free CD from the Liverpool Arts Academy Students

you probably should have done it all at once or not at all in hindsight...even I disagreed with the banning of all but three  still, we had so much cheap backlash last time that this really wouldn't have seemed like such a big issue which is probably why it was ignored so much...

there is a term for that isn't there, I learnt it in Media Studies - where all the bad news/changes come out on the same day, a few of them slip under the rader

News burial or something like that - although this was nowhere near as nefarious  And the first unbanning happened way before the cheap backlash - I think it was before XIII actually :o

'A good day to bury bad news' it was...apparently the government slipped out a load of rubbish and new policies on September 11th in the hopes that nobody would notice due to everything else going on :o

as we are being in here

oh dear god :/ so much drama over a rule change that will effect one contest a year.

And given that many MF artists have been sent in the past what is so different about sending the song that they actually entered MF with???

I'm for this change, mainly for the reasons Rich lined out. At this time of the year, NF's are followed by a very small group and many fall in love with the rejects but have been barred from entering them until now.

I know i got shot down last month for my veiws on the overly cheap songs and the vast amount of them I know Lily is rather cheap, but i did confirm very early, in fact i confirmed in Singapore f***ing airport on the 15th just a day after it opened because i could confirm on the morning of the 14th before i went to edinburgh airport. So i confirmed well before there was a flood of cheap entries. and i know that there are a few who don't like my stance over the ACM and what it stood for and i don't care. You can go F*ck yourself to be quite frank.

this is my main argument really...I've never liked the fact that I was banned from sending my favourite songs...I would have sooner sent 'That Is Where I'll Go' by Sibel to BJSCV than 'Make Believe' but I had to make do with 2nd best -_-

Exactly, how would those against this rule have felt if you were disallowed from sending your favourite song ever/of the month because of a rule (Not counting ESC songs) you wouldn't like it would you? No. I know i don't, because Simon sent En Vouges Don't Let Go i couldn't send the Sugababes amazing version which left me in a situation where i DNQ'd.

I'm not counting the top3 rule or the sending twice in a row rule. They can be pushed back by a month easily. I for one did it back at the start of BJSC.
