Not a chance :P

Not a chance :P

Say what? :o

in that case i'll have to break out my powers of persuasion.

including a youtube video:

I think the general consensus is that foreign songs is next, but I'm not going to be setting up any polls or votes to decide such a thing, Trashlexis shall do it on my behalf, or RobotKing seeing as he will be the host of it :D

Oh God :/ Agreed with Rich 100%... I'm being banned to send my favourite song atm :( (Do NOT take as an example my chart as I am was so MORE obsessed with Fairytale and next week Snall Snalla is SO my number one  ) :snif: Why shouldn't we (the small bunch of ESC obsessives) enter what we want (especially that only, maximum, half of us will end up entering MF/NF song)?!

This topic about including Sweden, UK and Ireland to the unbanned countries have always been in the air. But was put aside for little. Now that the decision has been made everyone started to moan  Get over it. Or boycott if you want. WHATEVER. [/isawthecaroline'sforumonbuzzjack]

surely this rule is better than that ridiculous previous rule of allowing every other National Final except Britain, Sweden and Ireland -_- I'd sooner we had a rule banning all of them than that one

Well actually, I objected to the other NFs being allowed too, not that it made a difference. -_-

Why exactly do you disagree with it so? :P It's all about finding out about new music is it not?...

And that's only because Leona is so hideously cheap anyway  I wouldn't give a damn if someone sent Leon Jackson, Rachel Hylton, hell, even Shayne Ward wouldn't be that bad :P

Yes, it is about discovering new music but I just don't want Eurovision inflicted on me any more than necessary. This does open up a whole new pool of entries but it's the exactly the type of entries that completely pass me by and make the contest boring. Generic Swedish Pop. Other than September and Robyn, most Swedish entries have been a waste of time listening to for me as it's all a bit samey and boring. So I guess it's me partly being unwilling to hear even MORE Scandipop which already makes the contest boring to me.

In fact, you may as well allow Eurovision entries. What's the difference?! I think Pavel, Peter, Rich, Tyron and David are probably the only people in the BJSC who are Eurovision obsessed. I doubt many people in here have heard a whole host of Eurovision entries either unless they were from the last 2 or 3 years. I certainly only know the 2008 entries and still listen to only 7 or 8 of them. I think at this stage you either allow ALL Eurovision songs or none of them, no half ways. The reasons for excluding Eurovision songs are the same reasons for excluding NF songs to me. :/

the spin-off thing was my fault and James', I hold my hands up to that and said that it won't happen again, and I will play no part in the orchestration of deciding the next spin-off for fear of ruining it

as for your first point, did that one slip under the radar a bit when you changed that rule, as the only person I saw that had any opposition to it was Peter, I don't recall Boyan even commenting on it and it was surely just as controversial

I think the reason Boyan didn't comment on it was because he was on a bit of a BJSC hiatus at the time, so he wouldn't have been reading the Green Room topic. (or wherever this rule was first changed) I also didn't like that rule change but I was obviously in the minority and I don't think anyone sent anything for me to not vote for.

Oh and who is to say this will be "one contest a year"? Melodifestivalen has TONS of songs each year, you could probably go for years in the BJSC on two years worth MF songs.

that's your personal taste and I respect that, but to have it as the only thing banned in the contest in a whole world full of music is a bit unfair -_- a number of other genres/artists that frequent this contest are boring to me but I wouldn't dream of having them banned.

I actually agree with you here...and personally I would be happier if there were no rules at all, but I don't make them - Boyan and Trashlexis did...I sometimes suggest changes but I could quite happily live with it if this no NF songs rule was still in place, I just thought it was utterly ridiculous to only have 3 countries National Finals banned, particularly as we have participants on here from Norway, Hungary and Russia, whose finals are still fair game. It should be all or nothing in my opinion, not nearly all but without 3 countries. I would have no objection to ESC songs being allowed in this competition either to be completely honest, and sincerely doubt that many people would use them. All they are is more songs, and like I said before, it is unfair that we can send any songs from anywhere in the world apart from these ones tarnished with this 'Eurovision' brush, yet we can send Pop Idol, X Factor songs if we really wanted to. And I know the argument for that is 'there are already ESC obsessives on here who would look for a cheap win by sending an ESC song' but surely this is true of a lot of other entries on here. For example, sending a newly leaked song by someone with an Artist Forum on here is always going to get a lot of votes and already have a fanbase. Sending a song that will appeal to Eurovision fans seems the same to me. And I'm sure a newly leaked Kylie song for example would have more of an instant fanbase than a song that came 5th in Melodifestivalen...

That's ridiculous! There's no way that you can claim MF is more hyped than the actual contest itself - and at the very most, only an eighth of those who take part actually follow MF, so I fail to see how it isn't any more unknown than what many others send - it's rare to find an entry in this contest that NOBODY had heard before confirmation!

are u sure only eight???

all these 19 people posted on that topic regarding songs...but anyway I wont post anymore on here because I wont change nothing and it just makes me more upset...I guess I shouldnt be so active and just remain in silence.

As if I'm not gonna be bored by the MF songs at some point?!! You're overreacting a bit. By the time of the next contest everyone will forget about NF songs as it will be closer and closer to ESC itself. And we, "Pavel, Peter, Rich, Tyron and David" PLUS Cal, Alexxx24 ('La Voix' atm :kink:), will be on our ESC-marathon. And everything will get back to normal i.e. cheap :heehee: I hope this change didn't turn you off Eurovisioin, Aaron :heehee:

same here...I never listen to Melodifestivalen songs after April/May  they seem old...I've already stopped listening to the songs from Norway's MGP apart from 2 of them (the top 2 )

Seeing as you like Eurovision, I find it quite amusing you still talk of it being 'inflicted' on you :P And Melodifestivalen did have its share of Swedish pop, but it's not necessarily generic stuff - look at Snalla Snalla for Christ's sake!

And the difference is that pretty much EVERYBODY watches Eurovision, whether they admit it or not, which is quite different from MF which is only reserved for the obsessives (Addy - posting in a thread doesn't necessarily mean that one is an MF obsessive, or has even listened to all of the songs :P).

I think you're imagining a perceived 'worst case scenario' here. Listen to Leona Daly - Not Crazy After All. It's hardly a typical Scandipop ESC entry, no? :P Thus far, the only stuff that has been confirmed is almost as far as you can get from the generic ESC fair which you seem so desperate to avoid...and I doubt we'll get many more than 5 entries per contest allowed by the disestablishment of this rule anyway.

I've actually already gone off Velvet Inc...the only ones I listen to now are Tone, Alex Stensrud and Rybak

ok first of all as I stated before, I am firmly AGAINST making decisions (changing/intruducing new rules) by few people only! doesn't matter if I was one of them or not. All of you here can take a look @ the esctoday forum - The Nation Song Contest (from where I borrowed the original rules and introduced the game to this forum), and see how this is going on there and how is everything up to each member when it comes to changes in the contest.

here on BJ clearly few of the member took this fun game as an obsession or I don't know, which for me takes the fun away from this game, which yeah should be just having fun on-line.

but as I see, most of you are okay with that and I'm gonna let you have your fun, but I'm withdrawing from the contest.

also the postion of a mod here can be taken but whoever want's to do the job.

I don't see it as a fun game as it used to be at the begining here, so I'm participating only in the other forum contest from now on.

good luck to all of the players here in the future contests :cheer:

I only listen to Alexander now :(

:( I don't get how it takes away the fun. But you spoke your mind. It's your choice.

Well I'm not saying we should ban an entire genre. (unless Eurovision is genre now) I don't have a problem with people sending Swedish artists (obviously I've sent a few in my history) but most of them tend to bore me. I had no problem with Sanna Nielsen, it was decent but not enough for points in the final. (much like Velvet, Sibel, Amanda Jennsen, Agnes etc. have had decent songs, but not good enough for my points) I just don't see the problem in doing what you did before be sending album tracks from Sibel and Sanna. Why does it have to be a song associated with Eurovision?! That's a general question by the way, not directed at you specifically!

Can't we make it so no Eurovision themed songs at all are allowed then? It's not too late to change things and Boyan clearly isn't keen on the idea. Why don't we have a Eurovision Rejects spin-off in the Eurovision forum or something? I think I'd prefer that, BJSC and Eurovision shouldn't mix. I think Eurovision songs, especially the Scandinavian entries, are slightly more advantaged than most songs because this contest was initially directed at the Eurovision fans. I'm sure if this was first advertised in the Lounge it would be a slightly different story. (you still get people assuming this is a Eurovision contest when they sign up late)
