Posted November 29, 200717 yr Wednesday, 28 November 2007 QUIT SMILING: British pop singer Lily Allen has told the London Times that she would like to quit by 25. The 22-year-old shot to fame just last year when her debut album Alright, Still sold nearly 2 million copies. And next year she will front her own TV show, Lily Allen and Friends. But in a joint London Time interview with her mother, film producer Alison Owen, Allen says that she is tiring of the limelight and would like to retire. "Nothing [makes] me feel passionate," she told the paper. She says of her mother: "I love her and think she's brilliant, but I don't want to work as hard as she did to provide for us. That's why I've always wanted to make lots of money early on." Allen, whose father is comedian Keith Allen, said that part of her motivation in going into the music industry was to get attention. "I didn't have attention as a kid - when I went out it was: 'This is Lily, Keith's daughter.' Not any more. Now it's: 'This is Keith, Lily's dad."' Towards the end of the interview, Allen confesses to having thoughts of retiring. "I spent years trying [to make it] from the age of 16 - people knocking me down. When it started going well I felt very confused by the attention," she told the paper. "I don't get it. I just want to make some money. Maybe I could retire at 25. I'm only going to do one more album. It's a great job, but it doesn't leave time for what's important. Like having a family. I'd like to live in the country and have a walled garden, and chickens and pigs. Source: Link
