Is it really a reasonable explanation to Life that God created everything that exists?

The bible is obviously flawed as scientific fact has proven that we evolved from single celled organism's, making it impossible for there to have been an Adam and an Eve. This brings the Bibles authenticity into question. It was written by men, therefore it may not be accurate or even true for that matter.

Perhaps there is a Higher Being of some sort though...

I'll wait to see what other peoples thoughts are before continuing..

I believe in God, but I think the big bang created Earth.
I believe in some sort of higher being, but I don't believe the bible, and I do believe the scientific explanations for why we are here.

I do believe in something higher, but I don't believe in the person the Bible seems to claim as the creator of all things. That is a lot of rubbish IMO. Something for spiritually weak people to believe in... It just takes a little bit of reason to see most of the things in Bible are not true at all. It's a fabulous story and everything, but that's it: A STORY.

There are a few scientific explanations that are far more reliable than the Bible.

I believe there must be something up there as I think that it's impossible that the world just created itself by chance. The Bible does have a lot of c**p in it, yes but at the same time I respect people's beliefs if they somehow stand by what is said.

Have experienced some pretty wacko stuff in other realms of consciousness, I'd say there is like a in universal intelligence. It's not like a God of the bible, not something of personification, but something quite all knowing, all understanding and all intelligent.

I don't really know whether I agree with the big bang, there is much that is real that we can't measure with physical senses. Like dimensions within the existing space we occupy. It's there all the time, but like in another dimension that not easy to reach into.

I agree with something someone said earlier (can't quite remember who...) I am a Christian (as in go to Church etc) but I don't necessarily believe in God, I know it's meant to be but it seems so far-fetched and out of the question and the whole heaven/hell scenario seems a bit strange too.

I'd like to think there is something higher, but I don't hold my breath.

It's when you die is where I get stumped, since I don't believe in heaven or hell I just can't imagine what happens when you die? You just go to sleep? Well do you dream? How do you know you're dead?

So many questions and so little answers, by the way if I die anytime soon and there is a heaven (or hell in my case) I will be back to chat at some point.

Those are some of the questions that pop up in my mind when someone talks about death and after-death experiences. Like: will your spirit (if there's such thing as a soul and a spirit) still be able to see what's going on? And will you be able to come back and be someone's ''guardian angel'' (or some higher soul, along these lines)? What do you feel when you finally close your eyes and are considered dead?

I'd pay to have these questions answered.

Thankfully it doesn't end you go whereever you choice! Without the requirement for the physical body you feel more alive then you do here on the physical earth. Indeed, to die is more like coming to life.

How would you know that?

How would you know that?

You can tap into these other worlds in consciousness already. You can also talk to and research people that have had near death experiences, and out of body experiences.

I have been reading about OOBE lately, it's also known as "Astral Projection" and apparently it's something to do with Witchcraft, because I google'd it and it came up with a load of Wicca sites, are you Wiccan Ricky? :o

for me its at a much higher level than the human body or even our planet. Its pretty much a given amongst academics that the big bang theory is true. We are all a result of the big bang bringing about a suitable environment.

What I am interested in is what made the very first thing, and then what made that? So sure I do believe in a higher being of some kind as someone must have started all of this but what is a challenge for me is to understand how everything was started.

Sure its the chicken/ egg dilemma but someone has to have started everything!

No, not Wiccan.

All you are talking about is connecting to your inner consciouness, something that is dismissed by a large section of modern society, partly because of religion and partly because of science(science being a certain believe system like religion anywy), but is still a intergal part of many older societies. Wiccan is one such example where this particular knowledge seems not to have been lost.

So you´re a christian but don´t believe in heaven, how is that possible?

I don´t believe in OOBE, since most testimonials are obviously fake, and some people are being honest, even tough they get confused, it´s normal to have dreams and deleriums when you´re not conscient, sometimes they´re so real you might believe it´s ture... But there must be a physical reason for that. But I think this thread is going out of topic, since the question is "is there a God?".

Well, that´s a very hard question... 2 thousand years ago it would be pretty normal, but who ever thought in 2006, with all the science development, people would still be asking this question?

I was born in a catholic family, baptised, christened, studied cathecism, and was teached that there is a heaven, where God is along with Jesus (who is also God himself), his mother Mary and all the angels and saints, and they´re all watching us and answearing our prays... I myself think this is such a fantasy just like the Greek mithologies. I don´t despise people who believe in that, however...

So you´re a christian but don´t believe in heaven, how is that possible?

Even Paul John-Paul II didn't believe in heaven or hell!

It's a state of mind he said, or something to that effect ;)

Is he says it´s a state of mind, then he believes, just not in the traditional way... Most catholics actually don´t believe in heaven and hell as a physical place, as it would only make sense in the physical world we live, not in after-life.

Thousands of years ago, people were incredibly superstitious, so they came up with "Gods", "Angels", "Devils", etc in an attempt to explain things which couldn't be explained. Science has found explanations for just about everything now, and the things that science can't explain now, it will more than likely explain in the future.

Whatever "higher being" or "higher power" exists is surely the universe itself......

i think that alot of stories in the bible where ment to be stories to have fun to read along to

but maybe somethings could be connected to god
