Posted December 12, 200717 yr Having to pay to park at hospitals. I think its disgusting how people should have to pay up to £10 a time just to stat a night to see a dying loved one in hospital, some may not be able to afford this, most hospitals charge £2 an hour to park. -_-
December 13, 200717 yr Yeah that is disgusting With my local hospital if you are visiting a patient you get a permit that entitles you to free parking during visiting hours It is scandalous that have to pay to visit a patient
December 13, 200717 yr Totally agree... I think we should turn this this thread into just a general "grumpy old men" moan about things we find utterly ludicrous about life in general in this country, whether it be mindless bureaucracy or whatever, otherwise it'll become a bit limited. I doubt anyone will argue in favour of having to pay to park in hospitals... I'll start us off... One of the most ridiculous things about this country is......banks, govt depts and utility companies using 0845 or'pay' numbers when you want to call up and make an enquiry or pay a bill.... <_<
December 13, 200717 yr Another thing I hate is roadworks causing massive traffic congestion then when you pass the area after a long wait there is no men actually working and all it is is a pile of cones, very annoying, I would not complain if people were actually working but it happens more often than not when I drive
December 13, 200717 yr Are you serious? That is f***ing ridiculous! Hey Tyler if you want, you and the other American posters can do a similar thread for the US....

December 13, 200717 yr lol.. a grumpy thread! what a good idea!!! i hate it when you want to phone your bank but you get a bloody foreigner answering it and they dodnt understand you! lol... its diabolical that call centres are managed abroad.
December 13, 200717 yr i hate it when you want to phone your bank but you get a bloody foreigner answering it and they dodnt understand you! lol... its diabolical that call centres are managed abroad. I agree with the point, but I think you could have edited the "bloody foreigner" comment mate.... :P Not their fault really, they're just doing a job.. The bosses are the ones ultimately to blame for making the decision to relocate.... I'm lucky inasmuch that I'm able to actually phone my branch, but most are in a position where they're having to phone up a bloody 0845 number just to check their account balance...
December 13, 200717 yr The company I'm working for is doing that now, shifting the call centre departments out to India, and of course they fully expect their English workers to sit there and train the new staff before being sent on their way. Awful business.
December 13, 200717 yr Major pet peeves - Indian call centres - I left BT when the wave of call centres in Delhi was announced - it's an incredibly bad idea.... a short-term money-saving idea that's proving to be a very expensive longterm problem for BT and various other companies. Speed cameras - dangerous money-grabbing devices - I think people should follow the lead of our local village inhabitants...... throw a blanket over them or, as was done recently.... simply set fire to them. Speed humps - Cardiff, for one, is littered with these monstrosities - every suburban street has speed humps - they wreck your suspension, if they're too high they rip the bottom of your car (compensation maybe?) and far from making the streets safe, they simply make them unsightly no-go areas. BBC ads - for a channel that supposedly prides itself on being advertisement free - errr... why are we constantly being told what we could have if we paid for Sky and had the extra BBC channels? Surely this is advertising? Virgin Broadband - by far the worst of all the providers...... slow, expensive, keeps cutting off.... and have you ever tried to call Virgin (for 25p a minute) and resolve any issues? It's painfully bad.
December 13, 200717 yr To be fair to Virgin Russ (I have probably jinxed myself now lol) I have had no major probs with them in the 2 years that I have been using them, also they have scrapped India for technical support now and last 2 times I phoned up I have spoken to English guys and also with regards the phone costs if you ring tech support and it is a prob at their end they credit your account with the amount of the cost of the call, the last time I had a tech prob I spoke for 6 mins and they gave me a credit to my account to cover the call charges
December 13, 200717 yr Other gripes of mine Music on too loud in shops, go into a clothes store for instance it is like going into a bloody nightclub Dog $h!t - I hate owners who do not clear up their dogs $h!t after the dog has been, it should be punishable by fines for it not to happen in parks and so on Orange - the bast*rds are always phoning me up at home offering me a contract phone even though I have never had an Orange contract, any company that phones me up at home gets no business off of me Banks - Never enough staff on duty, always takes ages to get served because my bank doesn't have enough cashiers on duty Petrol prices - My fault for having a gas guzzling sports car but sick of paying over £1 a litre
December 13, 200717 yr I hate public transport! Trains now I pay 40 odd pound a time going home and they never have enough carriages for people to move let alone sit down! When I pay that much I want to be able to move I don't want to be pressed up against someone! I find it quite funny to be honest how many people on here are moaning about their banks, I have never had a problem with mine.... When ever I ring up my branch I get through straight away and I talk to people that speak the lingo.... :)
December 13, 200717 yr any company that phones me up at home gets no business off of me the quickest and easiest way to stop nuisance calls at home is to opt in with the Telephone Preference Service - it's free to join, and any company using old call lists to call you after you've signed up can face massive fines and even possible closure. I signed up 3 years ago after getting hassled day and night with sales calls - they stop within weeks - and anyone calling you after you've signed up, as soon as you mention you're with the TPS, they scuttle off sharpish.

Cheers will sort that ^_^ Usually I get like 3 or 4 a week from various people
