December 21, 200717 yr I think you are wrong. Obama is very popular in the States and stands a very strong chance of winning the election, I live in the South (the most racist part of America) and rednecks f***ing like him. Obama's stand on gun control will count very heavily against him too, America love their guns and Obama sponsored a bill aimed at banning gun ownership, very noble cause and hell I agree with him but a gun owner voting for Obama is like a turkey voting for xmas Other reasons he wouldn't win - 1/His surname sounds like Osama 2/His lack of experience, how has a JUNIOR senator got enough experience to be the most powerful man in the world ?

If you apply the logic of point 2 to the UK, we could never elect anything other than a Labour government again. No other party will go into an election with any significant experience of government. The powers of local government have been so emasculated by this government and the last that local government experience no longer counts for as much as it did. With all of the school shootings I think SOME (not all but some) have changed their minds on gun control policy...I think he has a chance. And if he didn't get elected because his name is close to Osama...well I just highly doubt that would be the reason for his loss. Edited December 22, 200717 yr by Tyler
December 23, 200717 yr Oh and everyone keeps saying that the american president is the 'most powerful man of the world'. I disagree. Not anymore. No one listens to him. He doesnt make any decisions himself. He's as smart as a cows ass. Everything gets done for him. He has no power -_-
December 23, 200717 yr bush has done good, or he wouldnt be the prime minister of america Post of the year
January 2, 200817 yr If Bush has done so well as 'president' of the US, why is his 'rating' at 26%, the worst of any president over the past 60 years??? I, for one, can't wait for him to be out of office, and can only hope that another Republican won't be voted into office, or they'll run the US even FARTHER into the ground..... Leave it to the Republicans to take a $192,000,000,000 USD budget surplus, left to them by the Democrats, and turn in into a 3 TRILLION USD deficit.... Here in the US, thanks to the Republicans, the rich get richer, with all their tax breaks, and, the working stiffs like me are forced to pick up thr rest, making us even poorer...
January 2, 200817 yr The next president will not be a republican. It will be a Democrat, either Hillary or Barack. Everyone is mad at the Republican party. It is early now but right now Barack is ahead. I guess we will just have to wailt and say.
January 2, 200817 yr bush has done good, or he wouldnt be the prime minister of america m8.... you clearly have no grasp of the situation, so kindly go away and stop trying to be contraversial. <_<
January 2, 200817 yr Would they elect a mormon? Well, they elected a moron. PMSL. I think Hillary Clinton will be the next US President. I do agree that if Barack gets the nomination someone will take a pop at him. The Secret Service have already plans to give him protection on a level only usually given to the serving President. January 5, 200817 yr well, if the results of the Iowa caucuses are to play out through the rest of the primaries, and selections of the nominees, it may very well be Mike Huckabee and Barack Obama heading off to the Generral elections in November in the US... Of course, it's still waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to early to know who the eventual nominees from the main parties will be, but, with Huckabee and Obama winning in Iowa, it certainly has made things interesting in the political process...
January 5, 200817 yr Author It is indeed far too early to know who the candidates will be. Iowa is not a particularly representative state. There are a lot of fundamentalist Christians so Huckabee was bound to do well there. His anti-abortion, anti-gay attitudes willl have struck a chord with many Iowans but will be less popular elsewhere.
January 5, 200817 yr The next election is going to be VERY close. I honestly can't make a prediction at this point. Polls point slightly to democratic candidates but we all know how reliable those can be. I wouldn't mind if George Bush was allowed to run again (with all of his 29% approval) because then Dems would win for sure. Maybe an exception can be made. I hope states continue to choose Huckabee... he is getting smashed in all the polls.
January 5, 200817 yr As a Democrat, I am delighted that Huckabee won in Iowa. He is a bigot and a moron. He divides the Republican party between the fiscal conservatives who despise him and the right-wing nutcases who worship him. If he is nominated for the Republicans, many of them will defect and vote third party. He is utterly unelectable. Obama was inspirational as usual. He is an absolute shoe-in for the nomination and for president. Mark my words.
