I dont cry at "soppy" films either mate... But there aint nowt soppy about the very real emotions conveyed in the performances that truly great actors are capable of....

tbh... i cry at owt, i become pretty emotional in my old age! dunno why...

mwhahahahahaha

how about your one and only son becoming a man? does that remind you of how old you are and thus make you cry?

a man?... whos that then?...

I'v never cried at a film, as a child I laughed in Bambi when its mother died. HA. Same with Titanic, anyone who cries at that is just... well....

Although 'The Green Mile' is quite sad.

Spot on... I kinda laughed at the end of Titanic tbh.... So incredibly naff, cheesy, oh dear.... "Titanic" is pretty much the perfect example of the sort of cheesy, crappy "Tear Jerker Movies" that I was talking about.....

Similarly Bjork in "Dancer In The Dark" who makes us totally sympathise with her character... So, it's not necessarily the film itself that makes you cry, I believe that it is the quality of the acting itself and how well drawn and believable the characters are, that illicits the emotional response more than the actual film..

yeah totally - and obv the music created foir that film helps as well - people sometime forget the ambience and vibe that the soundtrack creates - and the moodswings its prods.

like people talking on their phones through out Lust, Caution (yeah we know its got subs but readin thats not the whole point of the filmmakers art)

like people talking on their phones through out Lust, Caution

People who do that just want shooting really dont they....? I dunno, is it gonna get to the point where cinemas are gonna have to insist that people "check in" their mobile phones like some sort of cloakroom idea because they're just too bloody pig ignorant to put the damn things on silent...? <_< I reckon our cinemas are seriously gonna have to consider this, why should people pay 10 quid to see a film than have to put up with poxy ringtones going off...?

I went to the Odeon to watch Titanic and I shouted 'Aint she going to share that door it's big enough for two!'. It was a bit silly that film really wasn't it.

The last film I remember crying at was V for Vendetta. She really liked him, I did too actually I think it was the mask. Such an amazing voice too...

Green mile as already said, it gets me everytime.

Soppy films never get me but I can't help blubbing whenever I watch Kes. One of my favourite films ever ... I just love the Billy Caspar character and seeing Kes dead in the bin at the end ... oh - his horrid, horrid brother, just because Billy spent his stake money on fish & chips!

Sorry if I've spoilt it there for anyone who hasn't watched Kes - but I reckon as it was released in the early 70's, if you were going to watch it, you should already have done so by now!

Born Free gets me going too! And Escape From The Dark - that poor little pit-pony. I guess its just film with sad things happening to animals that make me cry. I laughed out loud at Titanic!

Or the occasional twat  . i.e. When I went to watch King Kong once, when the woman was on top of the building with the ape some girl shouted, "JUMP BITCH JUMP"

Schindler's List always gets me - as does 'Into The Arms Of Strangers' - another movie about WW2 - a documentary charting the lives of the Jewish children shipped from Germany when war broke out, where they went, and what happened when they went home - many of them to no homes or families - heartbreaking - and a must-see for everyone, I think.

Also, The Colour Purple, despite its omission of the whole meaning of the book.

That is so bad mannered. I admit when I was watching Titanic - towards the end I just kept thinking (about DiCapprio's character) 'oh for god's sake just bloody drown will yer!' but I'd never have dreamed of saying it out loud.

Gawd, absolutely..... For my mind, Spielberg was NOT really the right choice of director for that film... They should re-do it now with someone like Spike Lee or Jane Campion directing....

Same here tbh....  I didn't shout it, but I did laugh out loud when he goes below the surface.... Just one of these excruciatingly cheesy moments.....

It's because you are in luvvvv.. It makes you soft. :P

Whats that film about the 9/11 attacks? God I cant remember what its called! But it has the passengers on one of the hi-jacked planes, and they take over the plane back from the terrorists, I can't remember what its called, but in one part of it, there is a girl who calls her mum to say goodbye to her, that was pretty sad
Beaches, The Green Mile and The Pianist

I have only ever cried at 1 film - Brokeback Mountain. I was in floods of tears at the cinema both times I saw it and when I watched it on DVD.

How wussy of me :/
