Not just a winner, but actaully entering something so risky that had a high chance of getting nil point. The finnish entry has been one of the most interesting entries for years. Well done and happy celebrations
May 20, 200619 yr Author And Balkans to that idea. They might start wanting one for every region... oh wait... Serbia & Montenegro! ...and Kosovo! :cheer: -_-

May 20, 200619 yr however it's partly due to the Montenegro vote on independence tomorrow. very big political $h!t going on, lots of free flights for people to get back over there to vote and stuff In that case Serbia & Montenegro will be split into 2 countries next year.

May 20, 200619 yr So is this the first time the Finns have ever won it???? WOW!!! And with c**p like that?!!. This is the first time and a kind of miracle that is! Since 1961, Finland has made it into top 10 only 12 times and before Lordi our best position in eurovision song constest was 1973: Marion Rung and Tom Tom Tom that finished at #6. Last time Finland made it into top ten was 1989 when La Dolce Vita finished at #7. Edited May 20, 200619 yr by walrus
May 20, 200619 yr Author Another random fact, all countries in the top ten apart from Romania and Greece were qualifiers, obviously helpful if you've already sung...

May 21, 200619 yr I heard last night that Kosovo will atend eurovision next year  suppose how the UN thing goes. however The Eurovision Song Contest 2007 is the 52nd edition of the Eurovision Song Contest that will take place from May 10 to May 12, 2007 in Finland. The location of the contest was decided on May 20, 2006 when the Finnish rock band Lordi won the 2006 contest in Athens, Greece. The likely location of the contest will be Finland's capital Helsinki, although this has not yet been confirmed. The popular contest website esctoday.com has stated that the qualification system will stay the same as in 2006, with fourteen countries (2006's top ten and the highest-paying four EBU members) automatically qualifying for the final, and ten others qualifying from the semi-final. The maximum number of countries who can enter the contest will remain at 40, although this will most likely not be reached. [edit] The 2007 Final The Big Four: France (placed 22nd in 2006) Germany (15th) Spain (21st) United Kingdom (19th) The 2006 Top Ten: Finland (1st) Russia (2nd) Bosnia and Herzegovina (3rd) Romania (4th) Sweden (5th) Lithuania (6th) Ukraine (7th) Armenia (8th) Greece (9th) Ireland (10th) The Top Ten from the 2007 Semi-Final In April 2006, Česká Televize announced that the Czech Republic would be entering the contest in 2007. This will therefore be their contest debut, despite the country being eligible for a long time. The reason for their not entering in previous years has been declared by the broadcaster as being down to financial difficulties. No countries have yet withdrawn from the contest, although the Netherlands' annoyance at their semi-final elimination may mean that they decide to withdraw for 2007.
