May 21, 200619 yr fyi wiki info about Kosovo Provisional Institutions of Self-Government (PISG) are institutions runing Kosovo in cooperation with the United Nations Interim Administrative Mission in Kosovo UNMIK. Resolution 1244 of the United Nations Security Council authorized the Secretary-General to establish an international civil presence in Kosovo (UNMIK), which would then in turn provide transitional administration while establishing and overseeing the development of provisional democratic self-governing institutions, pending a final settlement in Kosovo[1] In May 2001 the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) for Kosovo issued a Constitutional Framework for the Provisional Self-Government for the province. Its purpose was "to define the shape and power of interim institutions to which UNMIK could transfer further power and responsibility until Kosovo’s future status is determined"[2]. In this document, the Provisional Institutions of Self-Government (PISG) were granted greater autonomy, in order to share provisional interim management of Kosovo with UNMIK, while respecting UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the legislative and executive authority retained by the SRSG. The PISGs are made up of: The Assembly of Kosovo, which elects the President of Kosovo; The Government of Kosovo, with the Prime Minister of Kosovo nominated by the President and endorsed by the Assembly; The Judicial System of Kosovo, which is appointed by the SRSG from a list endorsed by the Assembly after being proposed by the Judicial and Prosecutorial Council. May 21, 200619 yr Oh, BTW, Ireland don't automatically qualify next year - only the top 6 plus the big 4 qualify automatically next year, as the EBU wanted to make more place in the finals for semi-finalists.
May 21, 200619 yr Author Oh, BTW, Ireland don't automatically qualify next year - only the top 6 plus the big 4 qualify automatically next year, as the EBU wanted to make more place in the finals for semi-finalists. Nah, they changed it back, so 14 go straight through. :)
May 21, 200619 yr  In a couple years time, there will be 50 countries competing at this rate, I think they need to be grouped up just like the Football
May 21, 200619 yr Author  In a couple years time, there will be 50 countries competing at this rate, I think they need to be grouped up just like the Football There will, there are far too many!!! -_- The UK, France, Germany, Spain, Ireland, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria and a few others should all pull out imo and start a contest of our own :) that'll teach em for not voting for us! :arrr:
May 21, 200619 yr Great that Finland won, we`ve been waiting for that happening over 40 years. The whole country is celebrating! Fantastic wern't it...? A Finnish metal band winning Eurovision....  The 12 points from UK is probably mainly thanks to a campaign by XFm, Kerrang! and Metal Hammer getting all the UK rockers mobilised and voting..... Maybe next year Finland will be represented by Tarja Tereunen, Ville Vallo or Finntroll.....  UK should get Dragonforce to represent next year.....
May 21, 200619 yr Author And also you know, on top of the 37 countries that entered this year, all these can enter too... Tunisia, Algeria, Czech Republic, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, San Marino, Syria, Vatican City - the Pope perhaps?! They are EBU members. -_-
May 21, 200619 yr Did Lebanon try to enter last year, but they pulled out, due to conflict with Israel

May 21, 200619 yr Author Did Lebanon try to enter last year, but they pulled out, due to conflict with Israel Yup, they weren't allowed to show the Israeli song on Lebanese TV!
May 21, 200619 yr WHY are people surprised Finland won? It was bleeding obvious it would win! That and Lithuania were different from everything else and they both did well. Everything else was of the same genre so a song had to be really good to stick out. Finland's was of a different genre. It proves what IS actually popular in Europe at the moment, and not some ppop $h!t like every othe country enters. Fantastic winners, by FAR the best in the competition...

Our song was different -_- didn't get us very far though... Saying that if Russia had entered Daz Sampson they probably would have walked it.
May 21, 200619 yr They wouldn't, Daz was awful, that was the reason it didn't do well. That and that kind of stuff isn't really what's popular in Europe at all...
May 21, 200619 yr Well David, my pal, I guess this is the time to say I told you so :-) I actually gave two points for UK in my friend's ESC get-together but I was really drunk. Finland was by far the best and glad to see both Romania and Sweden in the top five. The only real surprise was that Germany ranked so low. Hard rock Hallelujah :-)
May 21, 200619 yr I wonder if the Pope represented some Western country if he'd win... Maybe if there were strippers to spice it up :cheer:

May 21, 200619 yr Author Proof that it was a good performance, especially the girls... [flash=450,350]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8X2UXhX7HxE.swf
May 22, 200619 yr Interesting fact: Other than Ireland (of course) our highest points came from the kings of cheese Denmark (thank you) and we also got points from many countries who often give us points (Poland, Latvia, Cyprus, Malta etc...) but I thank Andorra, who gave us a point aswell!!! I've no idea why they would like Daz, but thanks for voting for the music as Daz said at the end of his performance!!!
May 22, 200619 yr That is by FAR the most cheesy performance I have EVER seen. It was so brilliant, and for that fact it won't be plummeting down my chart any time soon. Daz's arm swinging was priceless :-)

Exactly, something a bit different. I loved the Lithuania thing - clearly taking the piss.... Some humourless sods at the arena booed it, they obviously didn't quite catch on to the idea that it was a bit of a laugh.....
