Posted January 24, 200817 yr John Gibson Mocks ‘Weirdo’ Heath Ledger’s Death: ‘He Found Out How To Quit You’ http://thinkprogress.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/johngibson1.jpg Opening his radio show with funeral music yesterday, Fox News host John Gibson callously mocked the death of actor Heath Ledger, calling him a “weirdo” with a “serious drug problem.” http://thinkprogress.org/2008/01/23/gibson-mocks-ledger/ Playing an audio clip of the iconic quote, “I wish I knew how to quit you” from Ledger’s gay romance movie Brokeback Mountain, Gibson disdainfully quipped, “Well, he found out how to quit you.” Laughing, Gibson then played another clip from Brokeback Mountain in which Ledger said, “We’re dead,” followed by his own, mocking “We’re dead” before playing the clip again. Throughout the course of the show, Gibson continued to bring up Ledger’s death while discussing current events, jokingly claiming that current events may have caused him to commit suicide. Such as on yesterday’s drop in the stock market and the Democratic debate in South Carolina In 2006, when Brokeback Mountain was released, Gibson repeatedly made fun of the film, calling it “a gay agenda movie.” Any Comments regarding a "respected" broadcaster once hailed by George W Bush as "my favourite news broadcaster"?

January 24, 200817 yr His boss is Murdoch who was also Kelvin McKenzie's boss when McKenzie mocked the Liverpool dead and accused fans of stealing from them and nothing happened to McKenzie so nothing will happen here I stand by what I said in Lounge the other night if it turns out that Ledger was a druggie but taking the p*** out of his death goes too far
January 25, 200817 yr This absolutely reeks of homophobia, and the guy should almost certainly be sacked for this... It cant be coincidence that Ledger plays a high profile gay role and he just "happens" to be the guy who's death they choose to ridicule.. It aint the first time that a Hollywood actor has 'allegedly' died of an overdose, so all this bile against Ledger is, I suspect, all to do with his part in "Brokeback Mountain"... Did he make any such comments about Brad Renfro or River Pheonix...? NO, because they weren't Oscar nominated for playing gay roles....
January 25, 200817 yr Ledger's family would have a pretty decent shot at a defamation lawsuit. That is hate speech, period. The problem is nutcases like Gibson thrive on controversy and negative publicity. How many here had heard of the guy before this? Exactly...
January 25, 200817 yr Are you serious?!? How can people be so rude? Forget gay rights (of which I am a STRONG supporter of), but how about taking into account that a young man has just died. I don't care about peoples point of view, but no matter what, you should have respect for an individual when they die! If not for them, for their family who is mourning a loss. I hope this corrupt individual gets sacked, but I don't see it happening since it was on Fox...Oh and Bush loves him! What an utter suprise. Edited January 25, 200817 yr by Tyler
