From spam to jargon, pointless pop-ups to bullying bloggers, everyone has their Internet pet hate.

What one thing really frustrates you about the Internet?

Which examples of online ineptitude have made you want to bash your head against the keyboard?

Maybe it's a particular website or blogger that really gets your goat?

I hate the majority of people on the internet

I dont mean on this site, why do u think i've stayed around here so long? you guys arent that bad

But I mean like on chatrooms, I went on one once and this guy asked me to marry him! There was no hello or anything and he was...well he said he was....serious about it...aparently he wanted a bride to come live with him in whatever country he was living in  I've also had loads of people who ask if I wanna see them on a webcam, that gets on my nerves, like I wanna sit at my computer watching some silly internet boy take his clothes off....I'd rather watch my cat $h!t on the living room carpet!! I rarely go on them now, cuz I just end up telling people how pathetic they are on there

Some people who use the internet need to get a life!

My internet connection pisses me off big time too, its too slow and unreliable.

Those myspace comments that people leave on your myspace saying things like 'omg check out these pictures can you believe we used to go to school with her!' and then they leave a link or something which is obviously a virus

Thats all i can think of for now but I'm sure I'll be back with some more

erm.... is this topic really stimulating discussion and debate?... cant see where it can go... maybe this should be in the lounge.
Mostly people who use text speak or don't use capital letters or punctuation 'because it's faster' or whatever and how some people come across on it etc.
Viruses, they're like little f***ing flea's that you can't get rid of no matter how much flea-powder you use, flea-powder being pointless anti-virus software.

the providers - Virgin Broadband win hands down for slow connection, loss of service and general all-round shabby customer service - appalling.

Also - intrusion of your privacy via email - I don't want 50 emails a day offering me loans, Viagra or pen*s enlargements thankyou very much - I resent that anyone, anywhere can get your email address and abuse it this way.

I hate POSTWHORES.

Mr first is, as other have suggested, shabby service providers. Let it be known: Virgin Suck.

My second is an issue of truth - if someone writes something online, within minutes it's fact, and before you know it, it's being reported on the news as fact, when actually it's based on nothing but rumours and gossip. But, by the time people have heard it, it's already become truth in the public sphere, and it's too late to do anything about it - any denials are seen as lies, when infact the initial story might have been untrue.

Video websites like Youtube, Dailymotion, etc removing people's videos. I can understand that they don't want their copyrighted videos, but sometimes accounts seem to be suspended for no reason. People covering your artist's song isn't going to affect your record sales. People who recorded a tennis match with their video cameras, that you let them bring into the stadium, isn't going to reduce your cash flow. It's free advertising for goodness sake. Also the way youtube can wipe out many of the copyrighted videos so quickly but videos inciting racism, sexism, homophobia and even pro-anorexia videos can stay up there.

Definitely agree with Andrewy. Heath Ledger's death is a prime example. Which sicko decided to lie and say pills were spread all over the place?

I cosign the text speak too. Rarely the shortened version is the same length as the longer version, so what's the point in that? My friend used to email me like that, and I asked her not to because a short email took minutes to decipher. I felt like I was in the movie Enigma.

Ads: Popups that just take over the screen. I especially can't stand the ones that have sound. Some let you switch the sound on, but others make stupid noises like "HELLOOOOOOOOO" and "HELP ME!" constantly.

The anti-virus/trojan software that takes over the whole tab so I have to close it completely because I'm scared to click something by accident. It starts downloading without your permission. One even downloaded itself and set up an icon on the desktop. I couldn't believe it! It took over an hour to get it off the PC. They pretend to find 900 viruses when there's probably only 1 or nothing at all.

The word HATER being thrown around all the time. Every time you say "I don't like this song" or "I don't think she's the best singer", you get blasted by others calling you a HATER and saying "you're just jealous because she's rich and you're not" or something stupid like that. Does everyone have to follow the masses?

People who post information that everyone else heard about AGES ago e.g.those aren't Michael Jackson's biological kids...um, duh!

People who start blogs and NEVER update. What is the point in starting one unless you have something new to bring to the millions of others and are actually willing to keep it updated? The same goes for forums.
