The Lily Allen Show

Lily Allen's much-talked-about BBC Three series gets underway on Saturday, February 9.

Based on the social-networking phenomenon that helped to launch her career, viewers are invited to become Lily's virtual friends and shape the show by contributing to topical discussions, putting questions to guests and even featuring in parts of the programme.

The audience consists of Lily's online friends and the BBC website relating to the show also hosts exclusive video content from Lily, which the audience can add to their own social-network profiles and websites.

Guests include celebrities, topical guests from the online world, chart-topping bands and lesser-known acts chosen by Lily and members of her network.

A number of guests signed up for the forthcoming 'Lily Allen & Friends' TV show have been revealed.

The first full episode of the programme, fronted by the pop singer, will feature Reverend And The Makers, and 'Peep Show' comedian David Mitchell.

Internet sensation Tay Zonday is also set to feature on the show, explained her producer in a posting on bbc.co.uk/lilyallen.

As previously reported, Allen recently filmed the pilot episode of her show, featuring Blur bassist Alex James and comedian Alan Davies alongside new band Alphabeat.

Allen is currently working on her second album in tandem with the show’s filming.

Happy Pancake Day to those of you that are lucky enough to be at home eating lots of pancakes! Unfortunately, it looks like i might have to postpone my pancake making until the weekend as it's going to be a late night in the office!

As Paddy mentioned, we've got some great guests on the first show and i personally can't wait to see Cuba Gooding Jr as he was in one of my all time favourite films, 'Coming To America'.

Anyway, enough about Cuba! I can't believe we only have a few days before we record the first show. As you can imagine we've been beavering away all week but we've still managed to squeeze in some comedy You Tube time. Take a look at my favourite clip at the moment.

If you like this then you have to check 'dramatic chipmunk' on You Tube.

While we're on the subject of You Tube, we're still looking for your favourite clips, so make sure you email them to us. Also, while i'm asking for favours, I need you to send us any question you want to ask Cuba Gooding Jr, David Mitchell or Lily. You can ask whatever you want, so don't hold back!

See you soon

So the pilot went pretty well...

Lily was on top form and we're all looking forward to the series. Can't believe we record show one next week!

On that note, if you want to come down to any of the records make sure you've signed up as a friend of Lily's through the main site (thanks to everyone who came to the pilot.).

Some good guests booked to kick the series off.

David Mitchell will be chatting to Lily. Everyone in the office is well excited about that.

Reverend & The Makers are coming down to play too. I've worked on a few music shows that they've done and they are are always a good laugh to have about.

We'll also have a second performance from one of two up and coming bands. Keep an eye on the site or the flash application because the vote goes live next week. You'll get to decide which band you want to play.

For me personally, the anticipated highlight has to be Youtube legend Tay Zonday who is flying over from the States to join us. For those of you unfamiliar with this chaps fine work, prepare to be amazed...

Oh yeah!

Email any of your questions for David or Tay to us at lilyallen@bbc.co.uk

That's about it for now. Take it easy

So I've come in on a Sunday to start scripting for Friday's record.

Posting a new blog entry seems like the perfect way to delay working a little bit longer, then a bit of writing and then off home to watch Atonement I reckon.

Dying to see it because a lot of it was filmed where I come from.

We had some good news on friday. Cuba Gooding Jr is coming over from America next week and wants to do Lily's show while he's here.

That means a great line up for show one - (David Mitchell & Reverend and The Makers too).

Send your questions for any of our guests over to us at lilyallen@bbc.co.uk, you can also send emails for Lily. Ask her anything you like. Perhaps you need a bit of advice or just want to share something funny with her. It would be great to hear what's making you laugh on the internet at the moment.

Don't forget you can also upolad your videos to our Youtube channel. This can be done via the main site.

Cheers for now

Patrick

Audience walks out in 'sick' Lily Allen BBC chat show debut

She is being touted as the saviour of BBC Three, a hip young presenter whose unique appeal to the internet generation will attract a new audience to the much-criticised digital channel. But Lily Allen's late-night chat show might not be the huge hit Corporation chiefs are praying for. During recording of the all-important first programme, more than a third of the studio audience walked out, saying they were bored and complaining it was "horrible" and "limp". But Lily seemed to shrug off the criticisms of her debut when she was photographed last night arriving at a pre-Baftas party with a mystery man. The reaction to her show, however, will be a heavy blow to the BBC, which has placed the singer at the heart of a major revamp of the £83million-a-year channel. BBC Three has come under fire from many quarters as a waste of money, and even BBC veteran John Humphrys has called for it to be scrapped and the money diverted to news and current affairs. However, in defiance of the critics, BBC Three will undergo a bold relaunch on Tuesday, including a new pink logo and a more interactive website. And the Corporation is hailing Lily Allen And Friends as the flagship programme of the first night. Yet Friday's recording at Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire, does not augur well for the series – especially as the 150 audience members had been specially invited from among Miss Allen's online "friends". One of the fans who walked out said: "Everyone really, really wanted it to work for Lily. She is such a lovely person but all the jokes fell flat and she seemed very nervous. It just did not work. "I do think she's got a nice voice but she didn't sing at all. I think everyone was expecting she would." Off-camera, the 22-year-old, who was wearing a slinky red off-the-shoulder dress, admitted she was nervous of her first test as an interviewer, quizzing guests Cuba Gooding Jnr, comedian David Mitchell and the band Reverend and the Makers. As well as her inexperience, Miss Allen had to fight technical glitches including a jammed Autocue, which left her reliant on handwritten cue cards. One guest said: "We were all standing about, getting quite tired. "She was halfway through her interview with David Mitchell when she seemed to forget the questions and launched into an attack on all the horrible things people had written about her on online chat forums. "It was terrible. Even David Mitchell had to remind her not to criticise the very people who would be watching the show." Miss Allen then showed a series of internet videos showing animals having sex. Cuba Gooding Jnr summed up the mood when he told the audience: "I don't know what's sicker, animals having sex or you clapping." Another guest said: "We were all told when to clap and laugh but a lot of people, including me, were very uncomfortable. Much of the humour was very limp." A pilot episode was made last month to allow producers to fix problems before broadcast – but it appears this was not enough. The show aims to tap into Miss Allen's popularity on social networking websites such as Facebook and MySpace, which helped launch her music career. As well as recruiting the audience online, fans were invited to submit questions for Miss Allen to ask, and add their own profiles to the show's website. However, an hour into filming about 50 members of the audience had left and by the end, the studio was a little over half-full. One BBC source said: "You have to have a brilliant wit and be a real quick thinker to handle a show like this. It's a huge responsibility for someone so lacking in TV experience. "It's cruel to heap so much responsibility on one girl, especially at a time when she has had such unhappiness in her private life." Miss Allen recently suffered a miscarriage, and has split from boyfriend Ed Simons, of the Chemical Brothers.

miserable c**ts

on the other hand, we have a lovely new blog

Hi guys,

Good news, the first ever ‘Lily Allen and Friends’ is done and dusted and it went swimmingly I must say! Lily, dressed in a beautiful red number, announced to the audience she was 'nervous' but really pulled it out of the bag as the show went on.

The guests couldn’t have been more fun. Lily got cosy on the sofa with Peep show star David Mitchell and film megastar Cuba Gooding Jr, who took his top off for half the interview.

We were also treated to a performance and a half from Reverend and the Makers who wowed the audience and crew alike. Lead singer Jon is a true genius, he was walking round set strumming his guitar all day.

My favourite part of the show was the questions to the guests from our internet correspondents; Chris Crocker in particular. Funny guy. Oh and a certain miss Anne Robinson (who was filming The Weakest Link in the studio next door) gave Lily a little surprise by crashing our set. Very funny.

So it’s one episode down, seven episodes to go now. Please keep on sending in funny youtube clips you come across and also new band suggestions.

Tune in to the show on Tuesday at 10.30pm on BBC 3 to see what all the fuss is about.

Have a good rest of your weekend.

Adam x

P.s Sorry I didn't post this earlier, it's been a nightmare getting back to my flat because of the fire in Camden last night. Thank goodness no one was hurt.

Great show! Lily did an amazing job ^_^

But her is a condensed blog of Lily fighting back the rumours about the audience walking out;

Lily Allen is fighting back rumors that her TV show is a flop, by a message on her MySpace-blog.

The singer and TV-host wrote: "Due to it being the FIRST show we've done we ran over a little and naturally a small number of the audience had to catch the last trains back to wherever they came from."

She said that she didn't expect the person who wrote it to be positive about it in the first place: "I can't imagine the "undercover journalist" who broke into the studio ever had the intention of being positive about it though, obviously."

She also talked about her brother Alfie being on tour with the play Equus: "I am so proud of him, his reviews have been brilliant and he really is fantastic on the stage."

So here we are two shows later….

I can’t quite believe we’ve already recorded two shows! Lily’s second show went really well and her guests Martin Freeman, Lee Mack and Adele were great.

Martin Freeman dished the dirt on his glamorous film career and Lee Mack turned on his slightly filthy northern charm!

Adele’s voice was amazing when she performed ‘Chasing Pavements’ and during her interview she declared her love for the Spice Girls, which I wasn’t expecting but I have to admit I was secretly pleased as I have a lot of love for those girls.

We also had our You Tube guests on the show, the Gay Barbie Boys. They did a hilarious lip sync cover version and lets just say they lived up to their name. It’s definitely worth tuning in to the show on Tuesday if you want to see a group of grown men prancing around in the teeniest, figure hugging gold hot pants!

Lily also had a chat with some of her friends in the audience who had some really embarrassing stories, and when I say embarrassing I mean it. However, if you think you have an even better, funny or embarrassing story and you want to come on the show then email it to us now and you never know, it could be you that Lily plucks out of the crowd to have a chin wag with!

Make sure you catch the show on Tuesday night and keep sending us your funny stuff!

Show 4 news:

Hi,

The next show is on Tuesday 4th March at 10.30pm on BBC3. It’s set to be a corker so don’t miss it! Lily will be joined by X-Factor judge Louis Walsh, Eurovision host Claudia Winkleman, and Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac, and there’s music by The Charlatans too.

There’s just one thing missing from this fantastic line up – and that’s you! We’d love you to be involved so if you fancy getting on the telly, grab your camera or webcam and get filming the following…

Think you’ve got what it takes to impress X Factor judge Louis Walsh? Film your own audition clip and upload it to our YouTube group http://www.youtube.com/groups_videos?name=lilyallenyourstuff before the weekend – we’ll be playing Louis the best of the bunch on Tuesday’s show.

Don’t forget, we still want all your other funny clips too. For all the details, check out www.bbc.co.uk/lilyallen.

We can’t wait to see your genius work, so get filming!
